Fellas, UNC is not THE game.

To put it another way, if we were told we were only going to lose one of our remaining ACC games but we got to pick which one, we would pick UNC as that would guarantee we make it to the ACCCG.
but that's not what he said.

also, i believe a ACCCG is not a bowl game, correct? so we could go to the ACCCG and still impose a bowl ban, correct?

I am pretty sure that is what he said. His whole post was that winning the Coastal is the most important thing; again, what's most important is debatable, but he clearly was talking about winning the Coastal and in that case, UNC is the least important ACC game we have left.

I honestly have no idea about going to the ACCCG and then declining a bowl, but typically punishments/bans seem to restrict all post season play which would make me think that we would need to turn down the ACCCG if we made it to it and were planning on self-punishing again, but that's just a guess on my part.

VT still has to play FSU and Clemson. It is highly likely they end up with at least 3 ACC losses. Win this game and Miami should win the division even if VT beats us. If they cant beat UVA and Duke then we gots major prawblems

Brah we alweady got major problems

i don't think we self impose another bowl ban especially if we win the coastal.

we need the extra practices and experience from a bowl game and a win would go a long way with recruiting and momentum into next year.

Yeah, we then get sanctions and can't go to a bowl next year. Hurricanes 2013 > Hurricanes 2012.

Plus if we lose the ACCCG (a good possibility) then we have to go play in a ****** bowl compared to a potential good one in 2013. We have to think ahead. This team really isn't that good.

Of course, we have to take care of business in the Coastal and we have seen how that has gone the last 6-7 years.

Almost positive its a post-season ban, not just a bowl ban. ACCCG is considered post season.

I keep hearing this everywhere and in reality, although UNC is important, it is not in the top 3 most important remaining games.

Those are VT, UVA, and Duke.

UNC is ineligible for post season play, so if they beat us and we finish second to them or tied with them, we will still go to the ACCCG ahead of them. UNC is still very important in that it's a Coastal opponent and divisional record plays a huge role in the tiebreaker system, IIRC.

But we can lose to UNC, and FSU for that matter, and still have a 90% chance to win the Coastal by beating those 3 other teams i mentioned.

I want to go the ACCCG, however if we dont beat UNC and the only reason we make it there is because they have a post season ban...**** that.

Yes, there is a good chance VT may end up with 3 loses, but NCST just beat FSU; how many people were expecting that? Who knows what will actually happen for us or other teams, but what can be said, as of right now, is that UNC is the least important game to us in terms of an ACCCG birth. There really is no debating that.

Right, but losses to UVA and or Duke at the end of the year would mean for the 2nd straight year they havent really gotten better at the end of the season and are losing to terrible teams. Thats the goal with what is supposed to be an upgraded staff, as the season progresses, the team as a whole is better and is beating bad teams. Its what we have all been *****ing about for the last 6 years and they are supposed to fix that.

Who cares how we get to the ACCCG?

Recruits never care how FSU gets there every year with 4 losses. Getting there matters and beating UNC matters. Even if they're on sanctions, a win is still a conference win and so is a loss. It counts to the tally same as FSU and VT and UVA. They're all equally important at this point.

With the shape we're in as a program, it's all about progress. If you don't think getting to our 1st ACCCG is progress then IDK what is.

Out of the 6 regular season games remaining, there are 4 that are basically must-wins: UNC, VT, @UVA, @Duke. We can afford to drop UNC, but to really cinch up our chances for the ACC Title Game...we need to beat them and leave no doubts. We can afford losses to FSU and USF. If we lost those, it would hurt us in the rankings--but who cares? We need the Coastal first. Don't get me wrong--I still want to beat the Holes and the Bullsh1ts...but in the major scheme of things--those games don't matter as long as we beat UNC/VT/UVA/Duke.

I had a discussion a few years ago with some friends of mine who are fans of other schools up here in VA. I told them all at that point in time when we still looked like a national contender and were ranked that Miami's focus will always be the national title. Anything less than that is a bust, and that if you focus on national titles, the conference titles will come. Given the current state of our program that paradigm and mindset I held needs to change. Win the Coastal first, play in the ACC Championship, then build from that in recruiting going forward.

The thought that we would impose another bowl ban is somewhat at odds with the though that we won't be cited for LOIC. It would be nice to have the NOA before you have to make that decision.

yep. 2 bowl bans = LOIC

idk if the admin has any clue what is coming down. another self imposed ban would not be a good sign IMO
