LCE, besides the impacts the virus has had on recruiting, is there something that Manny and crew have done to generate this positive momentum? Or were we just in the right place at the right time and maximized our window of opportunity?
Just seems like not all that recently (pre-Lashlee) we were wandering around aimlessly searching for direction in recruiting and now all of a sudden, mo is our friend and kids that wouldn't even consider us are wanting in.
I'm a poor substitute for LCE but I'll give my reasons I think its happening. In no particular order
1. Travel Restrictions. Yes, it is helping big time. But use whatever means necessary
2. Momentum. Recruiting is all about the big Mo. Miami has it.
3. NIL opportunities. I said this before and people disagreed but I think time has proven me right. Prior to NIL, a 5 star recruit from S Fl had 2 choices.
a. Take dirty money from SEC schools and live in hicksville. Or
b. go to Miami, no bags, and rep the hometown for a team that hasn't given people much to cheer for.
Now the choice is take dirty money or take clean NIL money in a huge market. Lashlee offense is legit so kids know Miami is going to blow up again on the national scene.
4. Social justice issues. A few years ago, a school's racist history or racist coach had little bearing on recruiting. Now it's a huge issue. Why play in KKK country when the hometown school is located in a progressive multiracial city? Diaz and crew have been masterful at playing this angle.
5. Recruiting integrity. I think you are seeing what happens when recruits get lied to as evidenced by decommits/transfers from UGA and UF. I think this staff is being honest with recruits and that is paying dividends
6. Baba Yaga. Let's say a 5 star safety thinks UGA or some sec school is going to make him a household name. Ed Reed can get on the phone and ask the recruit about the HOF credentials and number of championships of other safeties from that sec program. Game over.
