lets put it this way, it is very much possible that our D can be a top 5 D next year.. before you start bashing let me explain, College football is not like the NFL, only very few teams perform as expected and sometimes all the stars align. (Perryman has a 1st round type of season, Tracy KILLS it, AQM and Tyrique become a terrors, Chic finally decides to put in major work, Valentine comes back in and day 1 starts to contribute, etc etc)

my point is expect anything and that is why you can't just say oh we sucked this year so next year its not going to get better.... or it can be complete opposite and we lose 8 games.

Our defense has been the worst in UM history over the last three years, but you think we're going to be able to field a top 10 defense next year?

I don't think we'll field a top 80.

Great input guys. I get hope (top 5 D) but it has to be based in reality. We have 3 years of data to show us what we can expect next year. Short of a DC change, scheme change, mental philosophy change I'd wager our D is worse next year. Meaning our record will be worse as well.

We have more than three years of data. Golden has fielded a Top 20 defense (not even Top 10) exactly twice in his career, with the rest of his defenses looking very similar to ours. How one can ignore overwhelming data and make such outrageous conclusions is beyond me.
 
Forget what you want to say about scheme. Just look at how he calls a game. On top of that look at how slow the calls come in. And to pile on, how many times did we call a blitz in an obvious screen situation. Forget even trying to move guys around. The call comes in so late the guys struggle to get set up and figure out what their responsibilities are.

Before you explain anything else in your ridiculous poRst, please explain that. How in the **** do you "expect anything"?

Once you do that (which you won't), explain how/why/in what fuggin alternate reality universe will we have a top 5 defense? And provide facts please.

Our best D under GoRlden was in his first year and we've gotten worse since. Now, we're going to miraculously jump to a top 5 defense? Just because you really, REALLY wish it will happen? Is it kind of like that whole "If you believe hard enough, it will happen" mindset? Well do me a favor bub, will you believe me a few million $$$ and Kate Upton as a side piece?
