I've said this every year since we supposedly started acting like a "Big Boy" school with money:

What's the point of battling these other schools if we're not going to start "over spending" for some recruits like they do????? So we wanna act like we're finally rich now but trying to be SAFE with the money??? YEAH NAAAAW!!! MISS ME WITH ALL THAT.

I'm not sure if it's an excuse or just a new and sad reality.

We have an allocated budget. It's obviously not as big as many of the other schools any longer.

Mario has to decide how to spend it but he can't necessarily just get more money.

If he "overpays" for somebody like Stubbs then that cuts from somewhere else (like the portal) where he can have more immediate needs met.

I'd rather "overspend" on somebody we KNOW is going to help us next year.

So then if it's about $$$ and not relationships or recruiting, then all 4 of those guys should come to Miami? If we're willing to "spend" for those 4, then doesn't that mean we won't be outbid? And if the money is the same, shouldn't the "elite recruiter" win their commitments?

I think guidry is a problem seems like no one wants to go near this guy.

NIL is not drying up. Stop it. the only kid they weren't willing to spend on was Stubbs. Giudry is the problem. Do you ever hear a recruit say I want to play for him? If the NIL was a problem we wouldnt be recruiting on offense at a high level.

I actually like the fact that we're not willing to play bidding wars with players who simply aren't worth the price and drama. Those dudes are likely portal-bound anyway within two seasons. It's only worth it for players that are truly elite and day 1 contributors. Stubbs ain't that.

It's a different game now with NIL and portal. It sucks that you can't build a roster from the ground up with HS players but that era is long gone now if you're playing big boy football.

My concern is Mario's ability to land enough difference makers in the portal. His previous three portal haul's have been filled with mediocrity with a few exceptions.
