I am not knocking the kid, think he deserves at least a second chance somewhere. But if we take a chance on a kid like that why didn't we take a chance on a guy like Michael Dyer. He seemed to really clean up his act (and he was never actually guilty of any crime, just failed drug test and associations correct?). He went to a baptist school and got his AA, seemed like he was really trying. Just wondering why not since we could use a RB this year just as much if not more than DE.
Dyer's problem was drugs. I think there is zero tolerance a THE U now for that. Drugs are hard to kick; Godlen might not view the risk/reward as worth it for one year. The other kid has a little goon problem but four years to play. With a farily cleaned up team and good leadership, risk/reward is more favorable. A cou[le breather plays for one season for one of best RBs in college is not the same reward as some smack your face plays on a D in desperate need of attitude. Drugs are an infectious desease that is hard to cure once infection get started. If the kid is not clean, the probelm can be bigger than a beer bottle to the head.
I guess there is no access to drugs in Louisville.
