Ernest Suttles

I am not knocking the kid, think he deserves at least a second chance somewhere. But if we take a chance on a kid like that why didn't we take a chance on a guy like Michael Dyer. He seemed to really clean up his act (and he was never actually guilty of any crime, just failed drug test and associations correct?). He went to a baptist school and got his AA, seemed like he was really trying. Just wondering why not since we could use a RB this year just as much if not more than DE.

Dyer's problem was drugs. I think there is zero tolerance a THE U now for that. Drugs are hard to kick; Godlen might not view the risk/reward as worth it for one year. The other kid has a little goon problem but four years to play. With a farily cleaned up team and good leadership, risk/reward is more favorable. A cou[le breather plays for one season for one of best RBs in college is not the same reward as some smack your face plays on a D in desperate need of attitude. Drugs are an infectious desease that is hard to cure once infection get started. If the kid is not clean, the probelm can be bigger than a beer bottle to the head.

I guess there is no access to drugs in Louisville.

C'mon man...he means UL is willing to take the drug risk

Golden should bring back EJ and Terry so we can have the rebirth of the Goon squad again with Suttles being the newest member. :quag:

Golden couldve easily just tagged Suttles as a nutcase like EJ and said **** naw.... but it says a lot about his understanding of ppl that he gives individuals chances to mature, move forward, and put past mistakes behind them.

Probably supplied in large part by Broward "Pain clinics"

Right. This and the fact that we're hurting for dline production and Depp. Guy like this doesn't get a look from UM in a year or two. Hope Ernie is bright enough to understand the opportunity he's gotten, and takes advantage of it. Good news is that he gets a full year to get right before jethro tells him the opposing QB was talkin' 'bout his momma and he goes all Bobby Beudreau on his ***. The less than good news is he's got to keep it together for that long without hitting something. Thing is, his act didn't go over well in Nebraska, where the AD once sold his soul to give Lawrence Phillips another year to insure a title. What's this guy gonna do on South Beach? If he shows up to a house party, I hope Duke's his wingman and Sunny and Santrell are standing between him and the keg. I'm all for second chances. Good luck to the young man.
