A dude who fights his teammates isnt a goodlook....hopefully his time at Nebraska was a wake up call

You guys remember Shockey's 1st day of training camp with the Giants?
Somebody gave him some crap since he was a rookie and Shockey let the hands fly.

Couldn't agree more; however, we need leaders such as Reed, Dorsey, Vilma, and Walsh to keep them in line. I heard Tim Mckyer on the radio saying that those great 49er teams had some major thugs but they also had the like of Ronnie lot and other well respected veterans to keep them in line.

I don't want guys on my defense that don't get into a couple fights a year.

I'm sure Golden gave him guidelines to follow.....should set him straight....get him in. Nothing like a tenacious defender

I am not knocking the kid, think he deserves at least a second chance somewhere. But if we take a chance on a kid like that why didn't we take a chance on a guy like Michael Dyer. He seemed to really clean up his act (and he was never actually guilty of any crime, just failed drug test and associations correct?). He went to a baptist school and got his AA, seemed like he was really trying. Just wondering why not since we could use a RB this year just as much if not more than DE.

Who said we didn't try n get Dyer. Lots of good backs afraid of Duke's shadow.

Well I don't know for sure but reading the articles it seems like we didn't, guy was practically begging to get visits. He visit South Florida, if he visit them I would have thought he would have at least give us a look. Yes, Duke is great and all but he can't carry the rock 35 times per game which is at least how many running plays per game we would do.

All we tend to hear is a brief outline of each situation. The staff probably investigates in detail, talks to the kid and people around him, etc. So two situations that may seem to us similar in some respects may actually have very significant differences. Among other things, do we feel that the kid is willing to come in and commit himself to our program?

Do you know how many fights I've seen at Greentree and heard in the lockerooms at Hecht after football practices? Too many to remember. It happens everywhere.

I doubt many of those fights consisted of one teammate smashing the other over the head with a beer bottle.

None of us were there at the altercation....which means ALL of us are not qualified to discuss this mans status on his former or current team.

If Golden wants him it's fine with me and I'm sure he'll be watching his behavior closely. Nobody knows what happened but at least if he was accepted at Nebraska he's qualified academically and he seems to be very physical and quick, something we've been missing for 4 years or more. We'll see if he's coming but, if he was coming there's no reason Golden couldn't announce it immediately so lets see what happens.

Dyer's problem was drugs. I think there is zero tolerance a THE U now for that. Drugs are hard to kick; Godlen might not view the risk/reward as worth it for one year. The other kid has a little goon problem but four years to play. With a farily cleaned up team and good leadership, risk/reward is more favorable. A cou[le breather plays for one season for one of best RBs in college is not the same reward as some smack your face plays on a D in desperate need of attitude. Drugs are an infectious desease that is hard to cure once infection get started. If the kid is not clean, the probelm can be bigger than a beer bottle to the head.
