"Entitled" South Florida Recruits

I guess I'm looking at this thread from a different perspective. I'm not saying either side is right, but I think what Pete's thread definitely tells me is that there is some discontent out there, and Golden and crew better figure out how to get a handle on it before it gets out of hand. He WILL NOT win if he isn't on the same page with most of the south florida community.
Yea lots offer everybody just because community says so.
What I don't get is why not the but hurt for other fla schools. And for the entitled behavior just see half of the coaches down here. Ice Harris and Luke come to mind.

LOL @ Ariz already transitioning from 'Canes fan to South Florida High School football fluffer. What a ******* porst. Yeah, after guys like Ice Harris, Denver Kirkland, Patrick Johnson, Keith Bryant, and even our very own Willie Williams, let's use Skai Moore as an example of a recruit that got the "entitled" label. LMAO. Nice passive-aggressive porst with zero relevant examples.

You guys are missing the point. I'm not saying they have to offer the plan B kids if the plan A kids are still on the table, but they should at least be keeping in contact with them so if the plan A kid goes elsewhere, they aren't left in the dust.

No, you're not making any point you think you're actually making. That's a completely separate discussion than the one your original porst attempts to have.

I think you are right, 1775, and I think this is the issue. Sometimes "being on the same page with the SoFla community" = insanity. Lots of SoFla kids believe that simply being "good" or getting offers from other schools automatically means they should get an offer from Miami, with no real understanding of the complex nature of scholly limitiations, depth charts, system fits, academic requirements, etc. Their coaches feed into this ego (or in some cases they are the MAIN cause for it) and turn it into a public spectacle (see Luke's twitter & articles in the New Times, laughing about it with an FSU fan working for BTW and clowning on Al/Miami where everyone can see it, see Ice running to Manny and publishing a hit piece on Al when his kids were taking pictures of themselves in Miami ski caps, throwing up the U, throwing up the 305, leading Miami on when they were never really in it, etc.). These kinds of things do not happen elsewhere to anywhere NEAR the same degree of intensity/frequency. Every year there are ******* circuses surrounding multiple SoFla kids. Anyone who can't see this is blind or an impressionable young person who is star struck by talking to Luke/Ice types of personalities and naively buying into their bull****. I really thought Texas HS coach egos were the pinnacle of narcissism but they are a distant, distant 2nd place to the mentality over there. They would never be stupid enough to start making reckless twitter comments or running hit pieces in newspapers because they got butthurt over something silly.

Who said offer everyone? What purpose does your strawman argument serve? You can put it all on Harris and Luke if you like, but like I said before, there's got to be a reason why Golden said that he's still learning the dynamics down here. Pete is alluding to there being some issues, and since he talks to these kids, whether it's justified or not, Golden needs to make sure that it doesn't get out of hand. That's all I'm saying. All of the other nonsense about offering everyone is not what I'm saying.

I should add to my post above.... I get the luxury of simply whining about it. But to 1775's point, that doesn't solve the issue. Golden has to crack that puzzle, and it's probably the difference between us being good again and us becoming great again. You have to deal with these types of characters in some way that is really beyond me. So - you're right.... I feel like the issue is real and it has to somehow get fixed. I just dunno HTF you deal with it. Golden's gotta channel his inner Clarice Starling. As a fan, it is infuriating to think he has to deal with that sillyness. The last thing I want to read is Pete defending it.

Swag, I agree it's definitely out of control, but Al has got to figure it out somehow. I still say the idea that wus brought up regarding Pete Carrol is the way to go. All I know is, I just want us to win. I'm tired of freakin losing. Isht was so much easier to deal with as a fan before the internet. Here I am in freaking April stressing about the future of the program. Good lord.

First five commits are from studs in South Florida.

Go figure.

#entitled

Find one instance where someone used that phrase/word regarding Skai Moore. What a terrible example.

Not to mention, for every Skai Moore example (calling him up lat minute) you can find a Denver Kirkland, an entitled SoFla recruit who drags Miami along, for the entire cycle, sets a deadline he doesn't keep and then starts a **** show when UM won't go past the deadline. Or an Alex Collins who told everyone on the staff, including his mother, he was going to UM only to declare for Arkansas a couple of hours later. Or, I can't recall his name right now (Rudolph)? Guys like him who only use their UM commitment to get interest from and then commit to other schools.

GETTHEFUKOUTTAHEREWITHTHATBULL****.

I see that we all have different ideas on what, "entitled" means. Kirkland's and Collins' actions mentioned above didn't make them entitled. Those actions made them pricks.
When a recruit needs to be "shown the love," then that recruit has a sense of entitlement. When a prospect needs to be recruited hard then they are entitled. When a recruit feels he deserves anything then they are being entitled. Life in the real world is hard and nothing is given for free. You have to earn every cent, which is something seemingly 99% of all teenagers, not just football players, fail to fathom.

If great talent shouldn't have to beg for an offer then coaches offering a future and a life previously unattainable shouldn't have to beg for a commitment.

Let me ask you this, do you know the staff stopped pursuing Skai Moore or are you assuming because he wasn't offered? I ask because some players get offered nd dont keep contact with coaches and some don't get offered but coaches stay in contact just in case they need them later so was their still contact?

Agree on keeping contact with these kids if they are plan B kids. If the staff has not reached out to them yet, they are probably not high on UM's list.

What was the Pete Carrol idea?

I think golden approaches recruiting like everything else - as a process. He places alot of value on fit, character, and intangibles in his evaluations.

The one thing I think he does really well is manage back-up plans. That said, I think it's obvious he miscalculated last year with DT's and Thomas. Thomas was never going to Miami in retrospect and he should have gone to plan B alot sooner in the game. As far as DT's go, I think there is shortage of upper echilon DT's to be had and Al wasn't going to go the same route he did a year earlier.

The problem is when Skaai Moore is your "plan B" and you recruit him as such, other schools can come down here and recruit him as their "plan A" (Ohio State). It's hard to compete with that. Just too many "plan B" type recruits in South Florida for us to handle when just about all the top BCS schools come down here to recruit them as their top targets.

Stacy Coley sure didn't have a problem with Golden's plan/process.

The kid that everyone said had off the field issues. THE BEST WR IN FLORIDA, mind you. Not some no star guy. He could have eaily said **** off, im going to FSU.

Funny how some guys are okay with handling their buisness first.
