Emory… also not hurt

If there's a great target worth the NIL that is a clear and significant upgrade over Emory. If not, better to spend the NIL on filling more spots of need in the portal and recruiting top HS players. I'd be comfortable going with Emory barring another Ward or Gabriel level transfer being available.
I’m not ready to make that assumption yet. The coaches know who is ready to be a starter and who isn’t. We’ll see what happens in the off season

If you have access to the All22 for both Miami QBs, you may come away curious if 17 should at least get *some practice reps* with the 1s. Very difficult to build rapport with the starters if you don’t throw the ball to them.

I wouldn’t personally rotate 1 and 17 every few series v USF, but we may start to see a discussion around this in the coming weeks. After Saturday keeping 17 out of the portal just became a higher priority than any of us thought.

For those in the know, has CMC ever used a 2 QB system?
Hook a brother up... I like All22.

I'm in agreement with the coaches' plan to preserve his shirt. In 2025, he'll be the perfect #2 if we can find a top QB in the portal, and a respectable #1 if not. I don't see Williams bailing on Miami so early in his college career given that we/he can see the development and improvement he is achieving under Dawson.

In 2026, as a RS Junior, he'll either start for us or transfer and start for someone else. Either way, he'll start, giving him 2 full years for the team that features him ... unless he balls out so much he decides to go pro with eligibility left. That's a win/win for Miami and the kid.

Can see improvement in 2 specific areas... quicker decision making and looking off recievers. Now if he can get that fake hand-off thing worked out, he will be as dangerous as Erickson.

I… think people are very clearly saying that.
And maybe that’s a logical thought when looking forward to next season, especially as it relates to the current roster.

Mario’s pretty clear in his portal position. If something is better, we’re taking it, no matter where it is on the field. The bottom line is the “top rated” portal QB’s have largely underperformed. Leonard’s been garbage, DJ’s been awful for years, TVD is who is, etc and so on.

Ultimately it will play its way out but who of the above listed names or any other 3 portal QB’s would you take and put in front of Emory? If you answer that question objectively I think you can understand what everyone else is getting at for next season.

Hope there’s another Cam out there next season but that’s a tall order. Unless there is, this staff and everyone in the room has zero issues with Emory being the man.

Ball state was even worse than thought. We put up program records on offense against them with a 2 hour lightning delay and a slowish start first half.

But Emory looked solid and improved. Arm strength looked better. Release looked quicker. Better mechanics on the upper body. And solid accuracy which he sort of always had.

That being said. Always aim higher. It’s like the “trust but verify” saying.

he's another ken Dorsey type if he gets it to click.

He did look a little better physically. You are onto something tho, last year when he started, the team really rallied around him.
Juice him up and we're good to go. Deer antler spray him.
