Canesport has a story up = they spoke to him right after the announcement.
- Staff didn't know. He said he text Jason Taylor right after it went public.
“I texted (co-defensive line coach)
Jason Taylor, `What other defensive linemen do I have in my class that are coming to Miami?’ He gave me the list and I said, `Well you have one more: Hayden Lowe.’ And he sent me a long text that (included) `You won’t regret this decision.’ Now they know.”
According to Canesport, Lowe’s flip came, in part, thanks to a rebuilt relationship with the Hurricanes’ staff. Lowe felt locked in with USC last month, but as the Hurricanes continued to prioritize the four-star EDGE, he found himself listening to the message from Miami’s staff — telling him he could be the face of the Hurricanes’ program and be coached by a NFL Hall-of-Famer.
He said he told USC about a week ago he was decommitting. A few other schools, including Oregon , got wind of it and started blowing up his phone. He said he hinted to Miami he was considering a flip.
“They made me feel like I was the poster boy down there, if I go there I can be the face of their program,” Lowe said. “And if I go there I can get connected, coached by one of the best defensive linemen in the history of football. It was a history I couldn’t pass at all.”
He went on to say that he never felt that way with USC - they would hit him up here and there but never the consistent attention he got from Miami
Lowe plans to sign Dec. 4 and enroll in January. And he isn’t thinking twice about his decision. He said his recruitment is shut down and he isn't talking to anyone else
