Elite 8 - The U vs Kansas

Funny how teams seem to give the ball away when the opponent is exerting defensive pressure at every spot on the half court.
At one point Reggie Miller literally said ‘they are trapping all the way out there”
We are a very, very difficult team to prepare for right now. We are executing Jim's scramble defense to perfection. KU has one day to prepare. You cannot run scout and you are not running your guys into the ground at a practice 24-hours before play.

I love our chances.

Gonna need more than a combined 2-10 from Moore and Wong from 3 point range to beat KU. Charlie in particular. How many air balls were in his 4 misses last nite? At least two. He was WAY off. Maybe the pressure of playing in his hometown?
I think he started off with some nervousness with two early bad turnovers. But played pretty well in the second half so hopefully he can come out strong

Exactly. The thing we do best is the hardest to prepare for. Steals. Comes down to years of fundamentals, and Kansas turns it over.

Kansas is 146th in the country in turnovers per game, and were 16th in steals per game. Our past 3 games are 11 steals per game which would be tied for first in the country. I think we can rattle them.

On target. We play a unique style of defense that really pressured everyone on the floor. We were trapping ball screens at the half court line. Active hands, good anticipation of passing lanes, and enough of a rim protector to at least make it difficult. And we do it without any depth, which is insane. To add, we play a small lineup that can all handle the ball and pass, which means high transition efficiency. The 5 out offense also puts pressure on bigs (Auburn and SC) that aren’t comfortable out there. It’s a hard assignment and we will be a challenging opponent

Kansas also plays with 2 big centers that appear to only play under the basket. They won’t be able to tomorrow. Might struggle. Waardenburg and Miller can definitely beat them off the dribble.

Kansas is 1-3 in their previous four Elite 8 games… all as a #1 seed.

Two of those losses were to an 11 seed (VCU) and a 9 seed (Oregon in a virtual home game for them in Kansas City).

BELIEVE!
Exactly. I actually think that Kansas is the best team left in the Tournament based on their ceiling but I also think they're the most likely higher seed in these last 4 matchups to lose.

Self has shown weakness in these exact type of games and Kansas had shown periods of general lack of consistency this season too.

I love that we're big underdogs. Put a chip on our shoulders and let us believe we're playing with house money.
