2024 Elija Lofton 4* TE from Bishop Gorman (aka Mini Brevin)

Why can’t Lofton flex wide? That’s where he does much of his damage on film. This isn't a walk-on fullback with a cowboy collar.

Here is a quote from the article on Lincoln Riley. Let me know if this profile sounds familiar:

At 6-2, 253 pounds, Hall looks like the prototype fullback. But in Riley’s offense, he’s so much more.

Through five games, Hall has 10 catches for 113 yards and has scored three touchdowns. His presence in short-yardage or goal-line situations is every bit as valuable as a speedy wideout or jitterbug running back.

On first down, Hall is a fullback in the backfield and delivers a punishing lead block on the middle linebacker in front of Pledger. On second down, Hall lines up in the slot on and thunders into a defensive end with a down block as Pledger cuts right behind him. Then, on third down and short, Hall lines up on the wing. Just when defenses think he’s coming to deliver more pain as an in-line blocker, Hall nimbly shifts and slips past his defender and into the end zone for a wide-open touchdown catch.
You're going to bat for this kid hard & thats good enough for me. The staff must really like this kid.

I was a huge Khalil Brantley fan so I dont have a problem with this kid. I also LOVE using HBACKS...use to used them when coached youth ball at Miramar...i think it was me liking the throw to the flats from my young days to Najeh, Quadtrine, Fulcher and company.

He appears to have a bigger frame coming in than Brantley.

The IN back at Bishop Gorman is the angle i like...and the fact that Brevin seems to think hes a player as well. Had a 112-yard performance in a high-profile matchup against Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei.

He's an inch shorter Brevin Jordan. Take all day.

Mario wants physical football with the ability to knock people back on offense. This is a guy who helps with that in a way we don’t have on the roster currently. He’s also pretty fast and has good receiving skills.

I’m not sure why anybody wouldn’t want him on the team.

Mallory was a horrific blocker. We asked him to do things he couldn’t because we had no numbers. He also has 3 inches on Lofton. If Lofton is going to be purely used as a receiver/H-back threat to help block in the backfield/run routes, he’s not my preferred TE prospect. That’s all.
How do u know how many inches Mallory has on Lofton😳🧐🤔 Big Pause

You misread my post.

I didn’t say Riley will never use them.

I said the offense is not built around having them.

That’s not the Riley system.

You used Riley as an example where a guy like this is a integral part of the successful system. But it’s not. He’s just as likely to line up Will Mallory in this role.

Our offense won't be built around Elija Lofton, either.

He is just a useful, versatile chess piece with blue-chip talent.

I don’t know anything about this kid.
He could be an underrated elite 5* talent.

But it’s the idea that he is a perfect fit for this brand of football Miami wants to play in the future that I have a problem with.

I don’t want to play that brand of football. At the point where Miami has two TEs on the field, one of which is more of a fullback hybrid that has merely “good” receiving skills, is the point where we are going backwards offensively.

You don’t know anything about him yet his presence on the team takes us backwards offensively? That doesn’t make any sense.

I was responding to what was claimed would be his role. What type of player he is.

You’re right. I’m not a scout. I don’t pretend to be someone that can “look at the tape.” I’m a self admitted star *****.

Why I’m not interested in though is a future where Miami has a bunch of guys near the box and is trying to play physical football.

So I don’t like the idea of bringing in guys that fit that future.

That makes plenty of sense.

Bruh…. and I say this with all due respect, but what the absolute **** are you talking about? You don’t know anything about the kid….. but he’s coming here to play a brand of football that takes us backwards, offensively? How Sway? Because he’s 6’ 1” (not 6’ 5”) and can make blocks? That makes no sense. Have you watched any of his highlights? Kid lines up and plays all over the field. Kid is also being recruited by other big P5 schools, that value “Big Boy”football….INCLUDING USCw, by Lincoln Riley. Shouldn’t that stand for something? One of the best offensive minds in all of college football, wants him on his roster, even at his present height. But mossmadness outchea on CIS says to pass on him cause if we run some 2 TE sets, he’s going to be ****ed, cause that’s taking us backwards. TF?! So what if we go two TE’s on some formations. That don’t mean, we gotta run the ball, every time. Kid is an athletic baller, and if he’s good enough to be recruited by a good deal of the “big boys” of college football, and Mario and Co. wants him, then that’s good enough for me. I can see if he was a kid with no offers, suspect game, and no video for us to see. But alas, we’re all entitled to our opinions, I guess… whether the masses agree with em, or nah. If he signs with us, then I’m welcoming him with open arms.

Right. I’m going off what has been said in the thread.

I don’t know how that’s difficult to understand, unless you’re trying to not understand.

Lofton is very similar to Jaheim Bell in stature and position versatility. Gotta have a creative OC to get the best out of him. Dude is relentless elite mindset

Bell’s a little longer and wiry and was being recruited at WR by some out of HS. I agree on the versatility though, Bell is just a ball player through and through.

This kid reminds me of CJ Donaldson from WVU with way better production. Not saying he’s gonna be a RB but you can really use him all over. I think him + a receiving TE is a home run

This kid is incredibly versatile. He really does show up big time, in big games. Not sure why, but he absolutely bullied our Great Chaminade team and he didn’t include that game on his highlight tape. Two of his better plays (deep bomb and back shoulder fade) were while he was split wide, against Mater Dai. I love this take.
