Elephant in the WR Room

Spending $4 million on a QB and not getting a true #1 receiver is bad business. You don’t spend that much on one guy if you don’t plan to spend a **** ton to surround him with guys capable of winning big.
There's a reason those who belong to Canes Connection received another email after Beck committed that a donor is matching 1 for 1 again. Guessing MC needs more to finish out the roster he wants for next season.

You do know that arroyo accounted for 590 yards and he is a much better athlete and played with cam ward?

I think people throw the “elite” word around a lot these days. Real good football player but elite?

As for toney, yes, talented dude but year 1 expectations need to be managed. Heck, Carr, trader and Robinson barely sniffed the field.

My expectations are based on what Blustein has said about both of them. If anyone is qualified to use the word elite, it is Blu.

I caution expectations of Lofton and Trader. Lofton is a real nice player - jack of all trades - can put him in many places but he's not a gamebreaker. He's good for a 400-500 yard year, at best, imo. His value is not on the box score.

Trader I have high hopes for but I don't know if they will pan out in year 2. I'm looking at him more as a year 3 splash guy.

Lots of unknowns with the WR corps. I am waiting for RRJ to make a break but he's been disappointing. this spring is huge for him and all of them, really.

JMO.
I usually agree with you but not here on Lofton. He has more YAC ability than I think you’re giving him credit for. That’s the RB in him.

Unproven but we know they probably not gunna lead the nation in drops.

Operating behind a top 10 oline with:

Jojo
Chance
Carr
Lofton/tulane TE
Daniels

We are gunna add another. Hopefully top end guy. Fletcher & Lyle in the RB room. The offense will look different. But I think the efficiency will be good enough. Not the same with ward & co but beck more than good enough too get it done with the talent around him.
The fact that you used the words "know" and "probably " in the same sentence kind of makes the OP's point. 🧐🤔

Lofton can run he ain’t just some possession guy. What’s stopping trader from balling next year?

They didn’t sniff the field because they had 4 older guys ahead of them. That’s not the case this year. You got to play these guys at some point. Never gone get better just sitting on the sideline because you bringing transfers in

Exactly. This is how it should look.

True. They are unproven. But I’ll trust the system. A run game & a pass game that creates space. It’s about to rehabilitate this dude.

UGA was not good around him this year. The run game was poor efficiency wise & beck definitely seemed to press (try to make more happen.

You don’t go for a projected number 1 pick to a low pick without outside influence.

We are all hyped with Carson Beck and we should be, but everyone is now saying we have more weapons than UGA? The thing is who are they? We lost our top 4 receivers plus Arroyo, but are we ready to truly crown that room? I’m excited about Jojo, but we haven’t really seen anything from Carr, Robinson, Ray-Ray, and who knows how the freshmen receivers adjust to the college game. We still don’t know how Cj Daniel’s will return after the nagging heel injury.

Beck used the TE often (pause) so happy we got a receiving TE like Bauman to match with Lofton. Do you all for-see us getting someone else, or should we ride with what we got. They are talented but unproven.
Trader showed me enough to be comfortable.
Carr and Ray Ray: not so much.
The key for them all is to work , work, work.

Restrepo is a huge loss. Hope some of these kids are looking at his work ethic and commitment.

Nonetheless, Beck a a big commit. If he rehabs well we know he can lead a team and read defenses. Fills large hole in a position of need.

Say what you will about Mario. This guy is working 24/7. IMHO, that alone earns my unwavering support, respect and patience.

he was not going to be a #1. he was always a #2.
rumor was during the season he was thinking about Tennessee.
Don’t completely disagree with you but there were some flashes where I thought he could take it to the next level.
