Ed Orgeron

Give him Cristobal's role (whatever that was during his short tenure). I just want this guy on the staff.

Crap is never stable. Let's make this simple: Did we have any decent defensvie lines between 1988 and 1992? Oh my I think we might of. Did we get any Dlinemen drafted into NFL? I seem to remember a couple. Wait, wasn't one the first figging pick in the draft? Seems like there might have even been a NFL HOF type out of those years too. Didn't Ed take over a trainwreck at USC and actually kick a little rearend? Is this even a question? He should already been under contract, even if we hold current staff until after Bowl game. Oh, wait, it might mess up the process by actually recruiting some DTs that can play. We cannot go into spring with the same defensive staff we have. Al will be putting his job on the line if he does that. Firing Mark will not be enough next year. Al's credablitly will be gone if he keeps Mark and we suck like this again. Better coaching has a much faster impact than we are seeing. Look at USC and TX this year. Our defense in not getting better coaching than it was getting under Randy and that sucked bad anyway.

Did not know Orgeron was ever here.

Had a lot of problems, mainly from drinking too much. Long time ago and he is an elite DL coach and recruiter now. Would be an incredible hire. Doubt it happens though

What are we Baptists? Dennis drank too much too. Two NCs!!! Russell Maryland, Cortez Kennedy, more DEs than you can name. Give me a Dline like his again and I will personally foot his bar tab. If Al wants to keep his overpaid boy toy, he needs a master dline coach. Ed is it and a recruiting monster too. No brainer here.

So would he be open to being a position coach?? What was he at USC?

Nevermind. Looked it up myself. He's been predominately a DL coach most of his career.

He was offered 1.5 million by Southern Cal to stay as their d line coach. Would have made him the highest paid assistant coach in college football.
I'd be surprised if all our assistants combined made that much money.

Left really ****ed off and said he wants to be a head coach.

I'd throw in a 6 pack of wine coolers myself. Not saying I don't want him. Just that it won't happen

For argument sake, let's pretend Jethro died this morning in a hang gliding accident (what an idiot)... Even if Orgeron showed up (with AG's blessing) on Shalala's doorstep with 6 dozen roses begging for the opportunity to coach here again (pro bono), I feel quite certain she would slam the door in his face.. after sicking the guard dogs on him.

Lol no.

He wanted the Wake Forest coaching job.. (they hired dude from BG) Anxious to see where he lands.

He would get us an elite DT or two but Alfred wants stability and mediocrity.

He might be slow to demonstrate how, if, when the D might improve but I I know he doesn't WANT mediocrity. Stability yes, I buy that, but certainly not mediocrity.

He'll have Cristobal's role if he comes here. He'll play the role of a guy looking for another job.
