Dyron Dye stuff UPDATE: Nevin is all kinds of crazy

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — NCAA investigators are planning to interview Miami football player Dyron Dye with the belief that there are discrepancies between what he told them previously and what he wrote in an affidavit in support of a former Hurricanes assistant coach, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press.
Meanwhile, in separate affidavits, Dye and former Miami quarterback Jacory Harris both said that when they were interviewed by the NCAA shortly after news of the scandal broke in August 2011, now-retired investigator Rich Johanningmeier threatened their scholarships and remaining eligibility, according to documents obtained Friday by AP.
The developments come less than three weeks before the NCAA's Committee on Infractions — a group that is separate from the association's investigators — is scheduled to begin hearing the case against the Hurricanes, most of which revolves around ties that players, coaches, recruits and administrators had with former booster Nevin Shapiro.
If the NCAA can prove Dye misled them in either or both of his two previous interviews with investigators, he may face the same unethical conduct allegation — a breach of Rule 10.1 as it's known around college athletics — that the association brought against three former Miami football and basketball assistant coaches in February.
Dye and Harris, according to the person who spoke with the AP, both wrote their affidavits on behalf of one of those former assistant coaches, Aubrey Hill. Several other former Miami players also wrote affidavits on Hill's behalf, though of those, only Dye has been targeted for another interview with NCAA investigators.
Of all the Miami football players and recruits named in the notice of allegations, Dye is the only one with eligibility remaining with the Hurricanes.
"I felt compelled to testify in a manner that would be consistent with the manner in which Mr. Johanningmeier was directing me in order to keep my eligibility," Dye wrote in his affidavit, speaking of his Aug. 16, 2011, interview with the NCAA.
The NCAA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Dye has already met with Miami officials and has retained an attorney, according to the person who spoke with AP on condition of anonymity because none of the information was to be released publicly.
The NCAA told Miami this week that Dye's affidavit "conflicts with previous information he reported to the enforcement staff."
It's unclear when Dye will meet with the NCAA. The association wanted the meeting to occur Friday, and has told Miami that it would make itself available over the Memorial Day weekend if necessary.
Miami is scheduled to go before the NCAA on June 13 in Indianapolis.
Dye was a tight end last season and was planning to move to defensive end this year. He was injured in Miami's spring game, casting some doubt over his availability for his final collegiate season.
Shapiro is the convicted felon who masterminded a $930 million Ponzi scheme and is serving a 20-year term in federal prison.

All this talk about how the NCAA thinks Dye misled them. Meanwhile the main guy who misled them was Shapiro. Why are they notbgoing after him?

Here's an interesting twist of thought. Maybe just maybe the NCAA finds these 'bullying tactics" and says, "Hey we are going to drop the rest of the case because we found more evidence of gathering information inappropriately and now we are willing to make a deal at time served". Now this may be a reach, but it would end just the way we all have said it would have to end. With the NCAA looking like they are still the boss and they are in total control and they are doing this because they are doing the right thing to right the wrongs of the previously fired employees. Just a shot in the dark, but if they cannot use any of the information gathered bye Dye in the investigation, why go after a kid that is probably done anyway... Not much to gain in a situation like that....

Amazing how the 20 year old, bullied into a response, is the "unethical" one. But the paid off "take-Miami-down-at-all-costs" ****** investigator gets a nice retirement package.

Dye and Harris are saying what they admitted too didn't happen bc they were bullied into it.

This could possibly be good news.

At this point I would be shocked if Miami gets anything more than time served. To much smoke out there on the short comings of the NCAA and Golden/Miami seem to be moving forward as such.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that NCAA investigators are planning to interview Miami football player Dyron Dye early next week, looking for more information about any ties he may have had with former Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro.

The NCAA is trying to determine if there are discrepancies in what Dye told them in two previous interviews and what was written in an affidavit he provided in support of former assistant coach Aubrey Hill, according to the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because none of the information was to be released publicly.

Hill is among the former Miami coaches who face an unethical conduct charge for allegedly breaking NCAA rules through ties with Shapiro

NCAA is trying to stack the case against Miami in order not get embarrassed.

If they're trying to figure out whether discrepencies exist between his former testimony and an affidavit he filed, then there is no reason to interview him. There're either discrepencies or there aren't. He already splained himself with his affidavit (as did other players who were likewise manipulated and coerced by the NCAA).

These scumbags have no shame at all.

They need to hear it directly to make sure the lawyer didn't do the same thing. It's only bad news of Dye recants his affidavit. **** the NCAA.

Donna did a lot of talking but not to sue these mothers by now is right down stupid...

what would be stupid is the file a lawsuit right now.. actually it would be the biggest mistake Miami can make.

1. you dont' just sue, you need to show the court you exhausted all your options to get it resolved first
2. Miami technically has not been punished yet
3. Miami has a hearing scheduled during this hearing Miami will make its case to the COI
4. if a ruling comes down against Miami, there is the appeals process.

AFTER.. all of this is done is when you sue... go it? good! now go back to watching CaneFreak videos on youtube

You are freaking wrong, The school has been punished long enough. It takes a long time to get to court to sue. If you go ahead and do it now, you are showing that you mean business. Hearing is next month then it will be drug out three more months before a decision is made. If we appeal that will be another six months. You are wrong, Miami needs to stop this now! If Miami lets this kid be interviewed again, and another different story comes out, the kid will be suspended more games. The courts don't care when you file. Miami is letting the NCAA walk all over them. Donna has done a lot of talking, which was great. Its time to put up or shut up!

You have clearly never been involved in litigation. You think this investigation is taking a long time? I have seen court cases go a full decade. A lawsuit would bring no quick or helpful resolution, only prolong our recruiting problems for years.

In my opinion the worst thing that happens here is Dye admits to the things for which he has already been punished and nothing more. Best case the NCAA concludes he was bullied into admitting something that didn't happen and they amend the COI. They are stupid, but given the **** that has already come to light I don't think they are stupid enough to circumvent the established process (i.e., post COI investigation), unless it favors Miami. Call me crazy, but there is enough public scrutiny to keep them honest this time.

You think the NCAA gives a crap about public opinion, Donna has allowed them to walk all over the U.
1.she agreed to send letters to ex players.
2.She has come out and said enough is enough.
3.Now she is letting the NCAA back in again.
4.She has completely agreed to everything the ncaa has asked and still doing it.

Wow. This dude makes DBC look like a freakin Rhodes Scholar.

Hurricanesgolden....

Please don't post here anymore. This is not that big a deal. You make it sound like Al Golden is coaching at Ball State or Vanderbilt and he is facing crippling sanctions from the NCAA.

Go back to your UFag, FSucks, or whatever board you came from.
