Your clueless. It was not a steal. Gates 2as trying to advance on a wild pitch. Did you play the game? Guys that can run are allowed to, "see it down." Everyone else the ball must get away from the catcher.

Again, awful. You teach every runner to break when they see the down angle. Every runner. Who said it was a steal?????

Then why are you saying you run before the ball hits the ground? That's not the case for everyone. In fact it's only for a few and Gates isn't one of them. Basically, only the guys that steal bases.

Good grief, you break when you see that the pitch is spiked. BEFORE it hits the ground. You teach every single runner to do that.

Lol!!! Toral with that, " Don't throw that bull**** up here" swing as he hits 2 foul ball homeruns prior to walking.

And I hate pulling a guy that can end the game with one swing that’s seeing the ball so well. Especially when he has 8-9-1 behind him. Hopefully it works out in our favor

Still do, with a pretty meaningful game this Saturday. Gates was out because they made a great play. 95% of the time the catcher doesn't pick it.
That might work in high school and little league, but not in D-1 major conference baseball where every catcher has a strong arm. Your arguement does not apply to every runner and it doesn't apply to Gates. Only for the guys that steal bases!!! Enough!!!

Yeah, I don't want to play scared. Be aggressive. Make them pick it AND make a perfect throw. He did, so tip your cap. We will be safe almost every other time.

No.!!! If that were the case then every runner would try to advance when the catcher blocks a ball in the dirt. Obviously, that's not the case. So, you are incorrect.

It works on every level. Stealing bases is all about technique and the jump you get. If you don’t waste any steps on your get off, perfect crossover etc. and get a good jump you will never be thrown out when a catcher goes to his knees outside, of Yadi in his prime. The best base stealers are normally not the fastest, of course there are guys like Billy Hamilton who are both. Kid made a play, it happens. Hats off to Gates for trying to make something happen when we were dead
