He was trying to advance on a wild pitch that didn't get far enough from the catcher.I'd like to believe what you are saying.

Your clueless. It was not a steal. Gates 2as trying to advance on a wild pitch. Did you play the game? Guys that can run are allowed to, "see it down." Everyone else the ball must get away from the catcher.

Then why are you saying you run before the ball hits the ground? That's not the case for everyone. In fact it's only for a few and Gates isn't one of them. Basically, only the guys that steal bases. We all know that.

BS. That's why Gates iwas out. Sure hope you never coached.Good grief, you break when you see that the pitch is spiked. BEFORE it hits the ground. You teach every single runner to do that.

That might work in high school and little league, but not in D-1 major conference baseball where every catcher has a strong arm. Your arguement does not apply to every runner and it doesn't apply to Gates. Only for the guys that steal bases!!! Enough!!!Still do, with a pretty meaningful game this Saturday. Gates was out because they made a great play. 95% of the time the catcher doesn't pick it.

No.!!! If that were the case then every runner would try to advance when the catcher blocks a ball in the dirt. Obviously, that's not the case. So, you are incorrect.Yeah, I don't want to play scared. Be aggressive. Make them pick it AND make a perfect throw. He did, so tip your cap. We will be safe almost every other time.
