We had better not lose to Duke again, period.
This, if we do, I expect a Shannon style same day firing like USF

2. Miami – The loss of starting quarterback Ryan Williams will be made less severe by the presence of star running back Duke Johnson and a veteran offensive line. Set to return seven starters from a unit which finished 13th in the ACC in total defense, the Miami defense should be significantly improved this fall.
This is a case of the media being lazy. Nothing easier than to pick the previous season winner and call it a night.
I agree 100%. Duke was a good team and they return most of the guys who made them good. No reason to think they'll revert to being your father's Duke team out of nowhere.

how does this make sense?
we sucked last year and return those same sucky players and our defense improves?

This is pretty much it right here.

Right we shouldn't expect Duke to suck. They return a good chunk of their players.
However were people go wrong is to think that what Duke did last year wasnt their ceiling. It was. Not so with other teams like Miami, VT and UNC which have a higher ceiling, especially Miami.

The problems with this porst:
1. Cutcliffe has won 10 games and bowl games
2. Golden has never won 10 games and has never won a bowl game
3. Cutcliffe does more with less
4. Golden does less with more

Cutcliffe has had many years at duke? And golden is entering year 4.. go look up what cutcliffe was doing at duke in season 4 or 5 for that matter.. everything worked out for duke last year.. i don't think they win the coastal this year.

Shapiro bought Golden +2 years over Shannon. Period. No amount of pouting and chest thumping is going to change that fact.
right? flawed logic imhoPer Southern Pigskin

Well ****...no reason to play the games. Might as well not practice or anything else except try to recruit. The season is over
