Duke has something to say about dade recruits leaving

he sounds mad as ****. why do people think these kids should go to a school just because they live in the area? i never do get why people get all butthurt over some 18 yr. olds decision, those cats have to do what's best for themselves. people say all the time when referencing careers or whatever to take the emotion out of it and make a business decision, so why shouldn't these kids look at it the same way? **** some of the best miami players ever grew up fans of other teams. portis for example was a diehard florida fan but spurrier wouldn't give him a chance to play tailback. kellen winslow didn't want to go to miami originally and had to compromise with pops. y'all gonna bash them too? are they not 'real' canes or fans?

Can't speak for everyone on the board, but I don't think any players owes anything to one school if they live in the area. The difference here is that A LOT of these South Florida kids will say crap like "Miami is my dream school" or "I've always wanted to play at the U" and then go elsewhere. Sometimes, they will even play us or use us on for their signing day drama. It seems to happen to us a lot more than any other school. I don't care if they are Canes fans or not before they are recruited. That's irrelevent to me. My problem is these kids that make Miami out to be their outright leader or dream school and then take a nice **** on us come signing day. I think that's what Duke is saying here

it seems like it happens to you more because you follow the canes more than any other school, it happens to everybody.

my point is though, these dudes are making a business decision ultimately. and miami has benefited from kids that were fans of other teams in the past too. uf has as well. percy harvin and the pouncey's for example were diehard fsu fans growing up, it doesn't mean ****. i just don't get why all these dudes act like little hos about loyalty and all this bs when dudes decide to go where they think is best for them. i mean lol@ loyalty and reppin the hometown...funny, because if these kids wanted to rep the hometown but weren't good enough players nobody would give a ****, so where's the loyalty there?

Listen to what Comber said Killa. There are dudes that choose to leave Miami to go elsewhere all the time that no one gets upset about. They are ones that were straightforward and didn't blow smoke up Miami's *** for 2 years prior to leaving...Joey Bosa's, Ettiene Sabino back in 08 are a couple that immediately come to mind. The guys that throw up the U, rep the Canes, and talk about how they dreamed of playing for UM and then leave that **** fans off. You didn't see everyone bashing Amari Cooper...he was attention whoring and flashing the U everywhere before heading to Bama.

i get that, when guys are obviously trolling like keith bryant or matthew thomas who stated he never really considered the U despite all that then yea it should irritate fans.

but there are guys who throw up the U who may genuinely be Miami fans and decide to go elsewhere because they think it's best for them at that moment. ultimately they gotta live with the decision and sometimes fandom has to be taken out of the equation. doesn't mean they were disrespecting the university or whatever.

Some good points here, killa. I spoke to Lamar Thomas about his decision to go to UM and he told me that he was a Gator fan growing up, but at the time he was making his decision, UF was a running team with Emmitt Smith, and Miami was winging it all over the place. He specifically said that Miami was a "business decision" for him.

It actually feels different when u win with home grown talent thats what makes UM the U. Its just different when u rep ya hood, why kids leave is crazy because most fans up north are racist unless your a good athlete. When **** hits the fan they turn there back on u, miami is diverse like few places like ny and cali. Its just different when its a family thing, if your good u will get to the league anywhere. If we recruited kids all from mexico and won a national title its cool but its better when its kids from ya backyard, kids from the block. Thats why this is that U, no one can without our guys point blank period.

yep, happens all the time.

i understand as fans we all want the best players on our teams but they can't simply pick a school based on fandom, i mean potential millions are at stake. tracy howard grew up a uf fan, it happens. i'm almost certain miami has benefited just as much by guys who were fans of other schools coming to miami. devin hester for example was a huge fsu fan, i mean huge, yet ended up at miami.

A little different when your getting Muhammeds, Elders, Sandlands, and Griffins than Cleveland, Cain, Rodgers, and Highsmith
