DT Tywone Malone enters Portal

Long story.

Basically Mom & pops were on bad terms the day of delivery. Not like jail bad but still, not good. Argument gets heated, inducing labor.. hospital, delivery, yada yada, out comes healthy baby boy. With haste about previous argument, Dad request to Mom he wants to name him Tywone after a relative. Mom is surprisingly agreeable & jots down info on the certificate.. Fast forward weeks later, the birth certificate arrives in the mail where Pops sees his name is Tywone. Argument picks up where it left off. Moral of the story is be more specific when you can't pronounce your R's.. especially when arguing with a woman. They stay petty. Also, if you've made it this far, ask D$ to fix these video pop-up ads. They're the worst. Kthanks

Want to feel old…. Cecil’s grandson, Prince’s son is about to be drafted

Could end up a starter or role player. Not much to talk about so far in his career.

OK; so I need more info on him. When I went check his stats, the first thing that popped up were baseball stats, which hella caught me off guard.

I understand he was highly rated coming out, but that’s also could be due to his size, potential, coming from a power house HS in NJ.

I see that he’s posted 13 total tackles & 2 sacks in 2 yrs at Ole Miss, but was 3rd on depth chart at his position. How serious is he about FB compared to BB? Just need to know wassup w/ bruh b4 jumping for joy that he’s interested in us.

Context on 2 seasons at Ole Miss …. his true FR season (2021) he only played in 1 game against a scrub opponent in mop up time and recorded a sack. Was a backup this past season where the rest of his production came from. He was limited his true freshman season due to an injury he sustained in HS that took time for him to recover from.

I agree with you though and said the same earlier today when discussing him, he is going to have to drop baseball and commit 100% to FB if he wants to take the next step. The good thing is he is still a pup with insane athletic ability and a ton of untapped potential. It’d be an upside take for sure as he hasn’t done much yet, but with 3 years to play and a change of scenery hopefully he could reach that here. For our situation, he is a definite take BUT, and I posted this earlier too…we need to pair him with a more proven guy who has production on this level ala Mesidor.

They don't make them much bigger than 6'4 310 (seen as high as 320) that can play 3 downs and play fast enough to keep up with modern offenses. He's also only 19 years old for a few more weeks. His best ball is still in front of him and he's at least a 2 year plug and play.

This is exactly what we need.

I was hoping we could bring back Michael Wyche. ... If Malone really is 310-320, then I agree that's good enough. I thought he was lighter. ... I agree that Guidry can scheme around guys lighter than that, just think he (Guidry) would benefit from having a guy who requires a double team. And we lost Jackson, Miller and Haye during the off season, so I personally think we need a nose tackle to be more multidimensional.

I think he is outgrowing baseball in the same way that Norchad Omier did. His future paychecks will come from football.

Appreciate that info; here’s my other concern in reaching out to my cousin in MS who bleeds Ole **** FB; apparently this kid didn’t move up the depth chart after spring practice. He was slated to be 3rd string again.

So sure, I can dismiss his True Fr yr due to an injury sustained in HS. However, as a RS-Fr, he was passed up by a JUCO player for the #2 spot, & now after Spring Ball he’s passed up again.

I know we love potential, & w/ his size just like D Jackson last yr, we got an A on “size” potential; but I’m 100% w/ u, we need to get a proven, more productive player to go along w/ him. I’m seeing a bit of cautious enthusiasm w/ this pick up, if it comes to fruition. (Pause on all of that, though)
