DT commit Joshua Horton (full senior HL)

Big, strong, agile w/ a nasty swim move, beats double teams (sometimes he splits them, sometimes with pure strength), spends most of the game in his opponent's backfield, and seems to have a good motor for an interior DL. He keeps climbing up the rankings, but I have no idea why he was ranked as low as he was a couple of weeks ago.

Mario says it’s needs to look a certain way… I think that’s exactly what you want to see from your DTs

Well he has a nice frame, and looked athletic so that's a start.

I think the question is when he is mixing it up with the war daddies inside, how tough and physical is he? Moten looks like he can mix it up inside, let's hope Horton shows the same.

It will likely be Collins sliding down to DT over Bain.
Do you mean what they end up playing or how they help us this year?

I terms of this year it became obvious to me watching the Spring game that Bain is ready to play as a true freshman. I was expecting him to be a talented kid with a great motor but I was honestly shocked by how polished he looked for a player his age. Bain shows great fundamentals and technique to go with elite level explosiveness and an overall natural feel for the position and the game in general. I feel that Bain can be effective for us as an inside pass rushing threat on obvious passing downs. He is a high floor player who also has great potential for growth and improvement.

Collins is a different type of prospect. He is long and freakishly athletic with a tremendous ceiling but he is a bit raw and not as polished as a kid like Bain. When it comes to a prospect like Collins I think it's easy for some to just assume that he will just slide inside and maybe he will but he is going to need to gain more functional strength and learn to play with leverage in order to be effective inside. In short I think Collins is a year away. Of course this is just speculation on my part and the kid might get 8 sacks this year.

I agree with Bain being ready to contribute this year, atleast in the same role as Kelly last year. Collins like you said is not only raw but I believe he had a pretty nasty injury his senior season so if he contributes this year I expect it to be very limited.

I actually like Bain to exceed Kelly's production and pt and have a much bigger role by the last half of the season. Kelly was what 16 when he signed with us? Kelly was very young and had yet to develop his upper body strength when he came in last year. Bain is a college ready freshman who is just naturally strong and surprisingly polished. He is still a true freshman but I think he will have an impact.

I Didn’t realize Kelly was on the younger side last year. That’s exciting going forward

I think Kelly was also hurt for part of the year so his development may have been slowed. If Bain stays healthy he should get some good looks.

DE: Agude, Moultrie, Davis, Ishmael -> Kelly, Wayne, Bain, Moss, Acheampong
DT: Jackson, Miller, Roberts, Haye -> Moten, Campbell, Horton, Dean, Gore

Half those guys are gone.
