At least yet any way i have heard that he has looked good throwing the ball and even morris mentioned how talented he is. I say let him compete for the #2 spot. I believe he could beat out williams and crow on pure talent. He would still have 3yrs to be the guy and he could get in game reps this year vs fau, savannah st.,usf and maybe wf and uva. That could be great because you then rs kayaa and that will put him 2yrs behind olsen. Because i do believe if olsen rs which ever guy wins the job the other will leave. I know i shouldn't worry about that know but i think it's the best option this year and for the future.

yea then we will be in the same scenario in 4 years when olsen should be a redshirt sr like next year will be when stephen should be a redshirt sr

What am I missing here? He comes in and competes. If he is #2,3,4 or redshirt(which is determined after the season)you don't burn someone's redshirt over mop up duty but if you need him to win the the game.... You play him. In the words of Herman Edwards(who I can't stand) "we play to win the game!"

You don't have to say you will redshirt from the beginning of the season. Olsen can be ready to play at anytime and be the #2 quaterback. If he does not play in any games because Morris stays healthy then he will redshirt. Going to practice and dressing to play does not terminate the redshirt opportunity

Just how much experience would he gain in mop up duty?

2014 we are primed for a run. It would be tough with a QB coming in with zero experience at all. At the same time you don't want to have a stud QB and have one less year for him to start here. It's not the easiest decision in the world.

I'm actually for him not red shirting then you redshirt Kayaa and they have 2 years between them.

With any success, Olsen leaves as a junior. So the point is moot. We could have a Kosar Testeverde situation hopefully.

These guys will get their moment one way or another if they're special talents.

I'm not just talking in case of blow outs im also talking in case of injury. But any reps would be useful going against opposing team younger guys are likely player that could be starters the following season and you wouldn't be in same situation as the morris one because kayaa would have at least 2yrs as the starter.

Not a horrible idea, but I still prefer redshirting Olsen if possible. Either way he'll be a year removed from Kaaya. Whomever is better will play.

Hopefully we are beating teams by enough for this to be a conversation. I'm 100% in for if Olsen can prove in the fall he is the number 2 quarterback, you don't shirt him. If he can legitimately beat out Williams and Crow, then he is the number 2 and should be ready in case Morris can't go. He should be a holder, he should get the number 2 reps in practice, and he should get blow out duty. Would love for him to have some game experience before he competes when Morris leaves. Plus quarterbacks get hurt. If he is better than Williams, you gotta give him the job.

I hate how everyone keeps saying whoever loses the job will leave. The competition hasn't even started yet. Not to mention even though I myself am counting Williams + Crow out, they will have just as much as an opportunity to compete. Elite level schools bring in top qb recruits every year, some obviously end up leaving but others wait for their opportunity. Having good talent at the qb position competiting for a starting job is obviously a problem you don't mind having.

... Why waste a year of sitting and waiting on the final 2 mins of a game.... This is how and why we got in the position of having no QBs .... We have to be able to RS players to continue to strengthen the program.... Olsen Rs and If we are lucky kayaa does too, I would rather we have Qbs in the system for 3+ yrs before they play
