But I’m excited for next season.

Yes, the offense will take a step back, that’s a given. BUT the defense will improve, that’s also a given. Here’s my reasons for excitement:

1) The offensive talent. No doubt a lot of really good players on that side of the ball, we saw it today. Trader is the goods. The OL I expect to actually be better next year. Next year’s offense will be more run heavy, and that’s okay. Find a serviceable qb and think the offense will be fine.

2) The schedule. We play Notre Dame at home first game (they’ll be breaking in a new qb) and UF at home (they’ll be good, I think). I think we have a shot in both even with the QB question mark

3) The defense. It can’t be as bad as it was this year. Guidry will be gone. The additions to the secondary already will improve the defense. Reason for optimism.

Mario isn’t great, but this is the best team we have had in a long time. He’s improved his coaching.

Regarding Pop-Tarts: sucks to lose I guess but we played with the backup the entire second half and could have just run it and won. The FG we made I didn’t mind because you assume ISU scores a TD … the problem is you tried to stop them from scoring when you know you couldn’t and wasted 2+ mins. If not, you likely have 2 timeouts + the 2 mins warning to run and drive the field for a game winning FG. Ultimately doesn’t matter.

5 —> 7 —> 10 with the OL much improved and DL is fine (think they underperformed due to Guidry if I’m being honest)

Either way, it’s just football. I love Miami and loved my time there but really we should be one of the better teams in the ACC which for now means fighting for a playoff spot. We’ll see.

Happy New Year and Go Canes!
Meth is a heII of a drug….

Mario has NOT improved his coaching. He got a once in a lifetime gift at QB, and went out and lost 3 games to less talented teams. Not to mention, he was **** lucky to not lose 2-3 more. This was with a weak schedule. Next year won't be so easy.

This program being 1-12 in bowl games since 2007 has to be one of if not the most inexplicable and pathetic displays of ineptitude in college sports history.

These weren’t major bowls mind you they got shutout by Louisiana Tech! Nothing or no one will turn this thing around unless you finish strong at the end of the season and Meathead treated it like it was a preseason game.

I think the formula is pretty clear: a dynamic QB, good skill position players and a powerful running game.
The issue is it’s really tough to get all 3. And the dynamic QB masks a lack of the other two way more than either of them can mask the lack of a dynamic QB.

We didn't complete one ******* pass beyond the line of scrimmage in the second half... puff puff pass, I'll have some of what you're having.

Who are the guys that have gotten "over the hump" other than Kirby Smart?

I mean there’s only 2 active coaches who have a won a natty.

So chances are good someone like Franklin or Sark will do it.

Unless UGA wins it all

That was my point ... there are going to be 3 active coaches that won a National title and probably 6-8 that have legitimately won their P4 conference title and had any legit playoff talk.

ASU/Dillingham this year (even though the B12 sucks) but let's see what happens next year or if they are TCU/Washington flash in the pans.

I appreciate your optimism, but I’m on the opposite end of the spectrum as you. I’m actually very, very concerned about next year. Let’s look at this logically: We just lost 3 games with a generational once-in-a-lifetime QB and now you’re telling me we’re going to replace him with Emory all while keeping that fool Guidry as our DC? By the way, how is Guidry even still employed? Not to mention we have a tougher schedule next year having to play Notre Lame and The Jorts from Gainesville in our first four games. I could totally see us losing 5-6 games next year unless those two major problems are fixed.
