Don’t care what anyone says …

Not a single thing you mentioned is guaranteed unless Mario makes the necessary changes. Emory makes the offense take a major step back not a little, need a qb for next season, as of rn Guidry will still be the D coordinator next season, and looks like there will be holes in the WR, DL, and LB rooms next season.

But I’m excited for next season.

Yes, the offense will take a step back, that’s a given. BUT the defense will improve, that’s also a given. Here’s my reasons for excitement:

1) The offensive talent. No doubt a lot of really good players on that side of the ball, we saw it today. Trader is the goods. The OL I expect to actually be better next year. Next year’s offense will be more run heavy, and that’s okay. Find a serviceable qb and think the offense will be fine.

2) The schedule. We play Notre Dame at home first game (they’ll be breaking in a new qb) and UF at home (they’ll be good, I think). I think we have a shot in both even with the QB question mark

3) The defense. It can’t be as bad as it was this year. Guidry will be gone. The additions to the secondary already will improve the defense. Reason for optimism.

Mario isn’t great, but this is the best team we have had in a long time. He’s improved his coaching.

Regarding Pop-Tarts: sucks to lose I guess but we played with the backup the entire second half and could have just run it and won. The FG we made I didn’t mind because you assume ISU scores a TD … the problem is you tried to stop them from scoring when you know you couldn’t and wasted 2+ mins. If not, you likely have 2 timeouts + the 2 mins warning to run and drive the field for a game winning FG. Ultimately doesn’t matter.

5 —> 7 —> 10 with the OL much improved and DL is fine (think they underperformed due to Guidry if I’m being honest)

Either way, it’s just football. I love Miami and loved my time there but really we should be one of the better teams in the ACC which for now means fighting for a playoff spot. We’ll see.

Happy New Year and Go Canes!

You're high as ****.

I think the formula is pretty clear: a dynamic QB, good skill position players and a powerful running game.

We did that this year and we were the best offense in the country. The best teams in the modern game are both explosive and physically dominant.

We need both.

Unfortunately Miami doesn’t have 1st round QBs in the pipeline and will have only one P4 talent on the roster come spring time and that’s nickel as an EE.

I have no doubt the 2nd half QB play will be a wake up call and they will continue to back channel for a starter for next year or it’s going to be a miserable year

We can have the best roster in CFB and I still wouldn’t be confident in having a great season with Mario as HC. There’s too much evidence to say he’s just not that guy to get you over the hump. Not to mention what we’ve ourselves have witnessed here at Miami under his tenure.
Who are the guys that have gotten "over the hump" other than Kirby Smart?

Brother, you are living in the matrix.

First of all, this is currently a completely different climate of college football with NIL. There are no more dominant teams. Look at what Dillingham is doing at ASU. It’s a given that Mario won’t win a national title here but can we at least start with making the ACC championship game?

You moved the goalposts and gave no answer. Dillingham lucked into a true Freshman stud QB and will get prison raped against Texas.

Besides Kirby Smart and Dabo who has "gotten over the hump?"

I completely reject your premise. This is a completely different era of college football. The days of Bama, Georgia, Clemson and Ohio State obliterating everyone are over. We just had the best QB in the country and the #1 ranked offense and didn’t even reach the ACC championship game. And I also don’t understand what you’re trying to get at. Is your argument really that criticism of Mario is unjustified because no one not named Dabo or Kirby have won NC’s recently?

The most frustrating part of the game was watching all of their offensive players read plays off their arms while we couldn't get lined up to save our life. They beat us play after play, and they didn't even have their plays memorized.🤦

4-8 football team next year. This year is an indictment on the program moving forward.
Mario wasted a generational talent. Emory is terrible, people saying “he kept us close in the FSU game and beat Clemson” don’t understand that we were close or won, IN SPITE of Emory, not because of him.

Guidry should be left at the bowl game.

Mario couldn’t even land a top 10 class this last year and recruiting is the only attribute he did well! He’s getting absolutely nobody to come join in on this dumpster fire of a program.
4-8! Holy ****! No way Mario can survive that so I may get excited for next year after all.

You said something to the effect of "he can't get us over the hump".

ANSWER THE **** QUESTION .... which coaches other than Kirby and Dabo have gotten over the hump?

I said it in the main game thread. Similar to 2015 Notre Dame going 10-3. They followed it up by going 4-8. Brian Kelly realized that everything he had done up to that moment was wrong and changed everything, even his approach to the game and how to practice. Cristobal doesn’t have that capacity to self criticize.
