As a recent UM grad, I can tell you this is going to absolutely kill student attendance at football games. A majority of students I knew at school would make the hour bus ride back and forth solely to go to the frat tailgates which centered around DJs and loud speakers.

Maybe this mentality will change for some if we start to put a consistent winning product on the field, but not for most.

2 hour long bus rides just to watch us play UVA sounds unappealing to the vast majority of students, it was only the promise of a rowdy party before that got students to the stadium.

The UM admin is insane and overbearing but even they recognized they couldn't ban rowdy tailgates, be it would kill student attendance.

Well, I don't blame the school for wanting to ban overly rowdy tailgates. I've been in the student lots over the years, and it's been insane, especially this season. Kids are going far and beyond getting buzzed, I've witnessed at least 5-6 cases of people drinking themselves to the point that they need medical attention. The current student org lot is a ****show, it's a ****show that is going to end up in someone dying, and the school and the Dolphins getting sued. If you come to football games solely for the tailgate, then stay home and get sauced. There's a difference between having a few beers, and chilling out and what is going on in a lot of lots right now.

LMAO. It's true. These lightweight UM students are throwing up all over the parking lot and passing out drunk at 2 pm. Get your **** together, people!

But not standing during the national anthem is acceptable from your employees (dolphin players). I will never go to another dolphin game as long as this clown is the owner.

National Anthem Stanza 3:

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country, should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave,

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

The National Anthem says that the Slaves of America (African Americans at the time) will never be saved, their blood will just wash away and cover what used to be of their history. The [slaves] will live in fear all the way until their death, and the flag will wave in victory...Over the land of the free, and home of the brave.

Even though he was a bigot slave owner, he was actually talking about the British and the people they were forcing to fight for them. Obviously he didn't mean land of the free for everyone but most people who are smarter than you or me about history agree he wasn't talking about AMERICANS who are "black". The flag and anthem represents every scar and change we've made, including the ridiculous period of slavery, a reminder of how far we've come. Do we need more change, yes, but the only way it's going to happen is if we are "indivisible, with liberty and justice for ALL" under that flag.
So you were in Francis Scott Keys' head when he wrote those lyrics. How old are you.

Of course I'm not that old so why make such a stupid comment, how about contributing with what you found and why you believe that. I actually read it, researched it, found the context of it and read people who know a lot more about it than me instead of taking some guys word on Twitter (which is where this originated from recently by way of an article posted on Twitter) that he was talking about black slaves in the Colonies. The guy was a bigot piece of crap (FSK) but we don't always have to twist things as something they aren't just to highlight what's wrong with the world today.

Sounds like your fellow alums and students are weak. The school needs to do a better job of finding real American students with an emphasis on the males who are actual men who love sports and less of the effeminate skinny Jean type. But then again, this is the same school that had Shalala as school president.

What are you even going on about? These are college kids who want the same tailgating experience as 120 other FBS schools. There is nothing unreasonable about that. It is part of the college experience and has nothing to do with "actual men who love sports".

When every other tailgate has a DJ system, you can't hear your music clear anyways. It's just a battle of who can get louder than the other. Happens every game.

It was a response to the previous post about students not showing up if they're not allowed to tailgate exactly they way they want. Tailgating is fun but it's an appetizer for the game which is the real main course. If you're going to throw a hissy fit and say you won't care to go to the games if DJ Laz isn't there, then you shouldn't go to the game. Let someone who actually cares about the game have your free seat.

wow. Honestly had no idea. I can see why some of these guys refuse to stand.

Called Hard Rock stadium doesnt allow music at tailgates yea makes sense smh

LOL Reasonable Rock Stadium - How the F'n they gonna have off duty cops walking around and litigating what is a "reasonable" volume when you have a stadium that blasts music all game long. So as long as you aren't louder than the stadium speakers you'd have to assume that's "reasonable".

The distance you had to reach for that false equivalency was impressive...

Massive amounts of stupid, but impressive nonetheless.
It is sad to many citizens get there info from facebook and mainstream media and dont analyze what is going on. Part 1 the owner of the property is Ross and he has mandated that loud music and DJ will not be allowed on his site. He has the right to do that if he believes that it will disgrace and embarrass his facility. Part 2 Jerry Jones told his team any player that disgraces his team during the anthem will be fired. So what I am saying is the owner of the dolphins is a hypocrite. On one hand he brings the hammer down on the fans but inside his stadium his employees enbarrase his organization.
Also, NFL TV ratings are going down every week because of the lack of respect towards our country. This country has gone from Pat Tillman a war hero to Colon pimpleneck a two bit second string loser wearing a Fidel Castro shirt talking about oppression.

I'm going to assume you make 19 million a year and are athletically gifted enough to play a professional sport. if coins a loser.... sign me up. I want 19 million a year. if making 19 million a year makes a person a loser, i assuming making six figures or below makes someone gas chamber material?

You're missing my point. These are college students. These are the only 4 years where they're allowed to do this type of shenanigans. They are young, impressionable, and most of all want to party and hit on girls. My favorite experiences in college were the tailgates and how rowdy they were. It's the highlight of any college students year. It isn't supposed to be family friendly, it's supposed to be the exact opposite. Also, these students pay $62,500 a year for their "free seat". Why the **** would the give it up?

If folks would quite playing sh*tty modern hip hop this probably wouldn't happen.

Any of the lawyer types out there...isn't this a freedom of speech issue? Or because it's private property that doesn't matter.

Poor babies.
Sounds like they're oppressed.
Maybe they can take a knee at the end of the game when the band plays the school song.

Because, according to the first poster, they don't care about the game. They only come for the tailgate party. He said none of them will go to the games if they can't have a DJ playing loud and explicit music. I didn't say any of this, I'm going purely on what the first poster said.

Secondly, I've been to college. I went to plenty of college tailgate parties. To say you're not getting the "same tailgating experience" as other college kids simply because the stadium will not allow you to play loud, explicit music is a ******* joke. I managed to make it through four years of tailgating in college without bringing an entire DJ set to the stadium parking lot. It was fun. We drank. We met chicks, We did stupid college ****.

Do not care as long as I can eat and drink beer/liquor while I tailgate I'll be happy. To be honest all the aspiring DJs who bring all that equipment to the tailgate do is make it annoying to me because there are so many of them you can't make out what any of the music is anyway. It's like just a loud mashup where you here parts of whatever music the closest dj is playing. Maybe I'll be able to actually hear my little Bluetooth speaker which I connect to my iPad so I can watch the other games going on while I'm out at the stadium.
