Does Jimmy Graham go down...

Guys he is not even in the discussion for either the greatest tight ends or greatest um offensive players. First he has a long way to go before being mentioned in the same breath as Gonzalez undoubtedly the greatest tight end and above list shows you the um greats ahead of him. So in a word No.

At first glance you would say no, but Jimmie Graham has completely reinvented the Tight End role. Who else has reinvented their position to the point where OTHER positions have to be re-invented just to cover you. 6-4 245 LBs are now the most coveted bc they have the size and athleticism to cover these freak tight ends. Thats pretty amazing.

Aaron Hernandez did it a year before Graham. Just sayin'. :(

Can you mother*ckers read? Lulz. The question was not now, but rather by the time he retires. If he ends up as the most prolific tight end in NFL history -- and I think he will barring injury -- then it puts him right at the top.

Frank Gore (Stats Don't Lie)

- ACL Tear Left Knee
- ACL Tear Right Knee
- 2 x Major Shoulder Surgery
- Hip Fracture

as the greatest UM offensive player of all time by the time he retires? I say yes.

Only if he has Drew (or even Brady) chucking him passes...

Andre Johnson could surpass Jimmy, but he does not have a good QB. I hate to say it, but if the Texans do not get a QB, Andre may be another Fitzgerald - another high-paid WR with no QB just collecting paychecks.

Unbelivable how many missed the question... lol

If Brees can keep this high level of play a few more years and with a coach like S. Payton calling plays, imo Graham will be in discussion

Of course, a new **** QB can hurt him in the future

people forget how bubba came in a period that TEs didn't catch the ball too much. He was part of a shift in the NFL to use the TE differently.

Edge, pre-ACL tear is the best offensive player to ever come out of the U

Completely agree. He lead the league in rushing his first 2 years in the league and was the leading rusher in the nfl in his third year when he tore his ACL.

Pre-ACL, the guy was a nightmare for defenses. One of the smoothest cutback runners at his size I've ever seen.

Good call. But Jim Kelly gets the edge. 4 straight Super Bowl appearances, whether he won them or not, is unprecedented. 35,000 yards in the NFL, almost 10,000 in the USFL.

AGree on Edge. I also wonder sometimes how Yatil Green would've turned out if he didn't injure himself. Talk about a f*cking freak.

Yeah, Green was at UM the same time I was there. Used to play pick up basketball games with him. Physically and athletically very gifted.

this shiits dumb-no. is he a great a t-end.. Of course. better than playmaker, kelly, wayne, edge.etc...? C'mon.

Are we supposed to ignore that his production in college was minimal? Bubba Franks, Shockey, and KWII were all better college TEs.

In my analysis, yes. There is, of course, no comparison when it comes to college production.

I don't think you can reasonably argue that any other UM alum is the greatest to ever play his position on the offensive side. I think Jimmy has the potential to get there, at least from a numbers standpoint. And if he does -- or at least comes close -- will he be considered the greatest UM offensive player in history? Obviously, debatable whether he can get there, and if so, whether he would be. But I don't think it's a ridiculous argument by any means.

I don't think he'll ever get that distinction b/c it's hard to ignore that his college production was minimal; he also played during the "dark ages." IMO, those guys who were successful here who either won championships or contributed to our history (particularly in the 80s) will receive higher billing.

But, certainly, exclude college production and he's well on his way to being the best UM TE.
