He’d make my list - but first I’d have to think about what determines the rankings. Side note - I would have Restrepo on the list as well.
Interesting that we push out a guy who won a Natty 91’ and Heisman, Toretta AND another, Dorsey, who won a Natty 01’ and went 38-2 as a starter, never dropping a home game.Feels like a totally random number to say top 35 of all time but he'd now in the Mt. Rushmore of Canes Qb's with Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar, Vinny T, and now Cam Ward. Cam pushes out Toretta & Dorsey for me.
Cam had better numbers than Toretta and in 91 the Heisman wasn't a popularity contest award like it is now. And Dorsey had an embarrassment of riches around him with a top 5 all time CFB defense supporting him. Could imagine giving Cam even half of what our 01 defense provided ?Interesting that we push out a guy who won a Natty 91’ and Heisman, Toretta AND another, Dorsey, who won a Natty 01’ and went 38-2 as a starter, never dropping a home game.
Nah doesn’t matter, yes, Cam more skilled but Dorsey knew how to get the ball to the skill players. I don’t see any difference in the scoring output whether or not Cam replaces Ken. And Coker takes his foot off the gas pedal once they’re up big anyway, just ask Penn St & Nebraska. If he’s on that 01 team they drop 60 every game
I don’t disagree with anything here just find it interesting that’s all. I totally agree Cam has a ton more physical talent than those guys & those guys had much better players on both sides of the ball with them.Cam had better numbers than Toretta and in 91 the Heisman wasn't a popularity contest award like it is now. And Dorsey had an embarrassment of riches around him with a top 5 all time CFB defense supporting him. Could imagine giving Cam even half of what our 01 defense provided ?
