Do we have a Playoff Roster?

im optimistic with the d staff. i trust the O staff.

i dont trust the HC with key decisions that come down to situational play calling or decision making. it screwed us multiple times the last few years including Cuse and the bowl game
In the Syracuse game, are you referring to the field goal attempt instead of going for it? If so, there was over 4 minutes left and there was plenty of time to get a stop. We couldn't stop them on 3rd and 6, and I also remember Moten going offsides on a crucial play as well. That doesn't necessarily boil down to bad coaching decisions. Mario actually significantly improved in that area this past season

You can’t be serious here. You can’t really think that more than half of our defensive starters are G5 players. Would they start for Ohio State? Probably not but you realize UCF, Mississippi State, Nebraska and Wake Forest are all P4 programs.
Those aren't players we need here.

If the goal is to compete with UCF and Wake Forest then fine.

If it's to compete for national championships then we need far better players.

Mario is supposed to be a good recruiter and has clearly shown an inability to bring in impact players at multiple positions through 4 highschool classes and 4 portal iterations.

we werent stopping them. we didnt stop them once from the second quarter on. you have cam ward. you go for it every time rather than kick a field goal that didnt do anytihng for you. anyone who watched that game knew we werent getting the stops on defense. mario has seen it all year. it was inexcusable.

Was there ever any analytics done on the play whether kick or go? Like I know for example Harbaugh follows the analytics to a T. Sometimes I think coaches need to trust their eyes or feel momentum because what our defensive did or failed to do was a statistical outlier it was so bad so AI likely wouldnt compute. But I know Mario was relying more on analytics this year which I am fine with.

He has shortcomings as a coach, if he is relying on stats or AI in real time to say what the best % chance is, then I am honestly for it. Yes there will be situations like the cuse game where I was thinking the same thing, go for it. Once George got that penalty though we had **** morale and I wouldnt be surprised if the analytics agreed with mario kicking it.

You're part of the problem here.

WHAT did you see when you were watching the Syracuse game that made you think that the Miami defense was capable of getting a stop in the last 4 minutes?

Seriously.

Anyone watching that game knew that it was the same as every other game. Defense does nothing while Cam has to engineer a miracle.

Mario is an absolute dunce.

You're applauding that a P5 head coach with 20+ years of experience who's earned over $50 million in lifetime salary is FINALLY making improvements in understanding how to manage a game clock.

What does that have to do with Mario and his gameday/situation decisions lol. That completely falls on Guidry, as well as our atrocious secondary personnel. It's easy for fans to say "Mario should have fired Guidry mid season", but that was never going to happen because we were winning games. Looking back at it now, would giving the defensive play calling duties to any other human on the planet have produced better results? Probably. However, it was just completely unrealistic considering the season we were having

Again, what does the defensive performance have to do with his gameday decisions/situational calls? We get it, it was terrible. We all watched with our eyes

First off, it was like 4th down from about the 15. Secondly, lets say they went for it and got it. Cool its tied. Miami still would have had to keep Syracuse out of field goal range lol. We needed a stop regardless of if we went for it or not

12 team playoff we do but it’s not only roster it’s the road to get there. Smu didn’t have a playoff roster last year but they made it in. We for sure have playoff level OL CBs RBs(good not elite). That’s it. Receivers safety’s are unproven. Tight ends is lofton(show me) and bauman(good player). Beck is the key and linebackers being serviceable.

let's see how Mario shores up this team during the spring portal. Once the squad is fully assembled I'll chime in. As it currently stands, I'm not sure what this team is capable of. We revamped the Defense back end and hired a new DC, brought in an injured QB and have lots of youth at key skill positions. Veteran leadership was a big part of the wins we had this past season that were down to the wire, so we'll see who steps up and takes those reigns.

they were saying emory would make the safe plays cam doesnt take and that would make us better.

Comparing rosters on paper is pretty much a crapshoot. Yeah, it’s obvious Ohio State, Penn State, Texas & a few others are loaded. Beyond that it’s difficult to project. Hard to project potential injuries, development of young players, how roster fits scheme, portal pieces and how they fit, schedule, etc. Miami is not yet in the top class, so multiple questions to be addressed before speculating on playoff potential.

Until we make the playoffs we do not have a playoff caliber roster. Nothing sounds more beta than watching the playoffs and saying you have a playoff “caliber” team but they’re not in it.

Sounds like a lot of the YMCA hoopers talking sht about the white boys in D1 and saying they can school them on the court. No you can’t.

Plenty of bad coaches and coordinators have made the playoffs.

A lot of variables to that playoff equation.

But just make the dhamn playoffs already.
I’m done with the excuses.

Despite all the changes and “upgrades” the results haven’t changed.
And this is coming from Mario supporter.

Paper tigers until we prove it otherwise

Cristobal busted a myth for me. Up until last season, I always thought that the only thing really separating UM from the top tier teams was a QB. I remember when Cam Newton carried a mediocre Auburn team to a championship and thought, “It’s so simple. We just need our own Cam, and everything will fall into place.” And my wish came true- we got our very own Cam. Now was Ward as good as Newton? No, Newton was on a different level- however Ward will be the #1 pick and was clearly the best QB in the country. And despite that we didn’t even make the playoffs or even the conference championship in a weak conference. Beck isn’t as good as Ward. That’s not a slight, not many qbs are. If we couldn’t make the playoffs with Ward, I don’t have a lot of faith we will make the playoffs with Beck, even though some other positions on the team might show marginal improvement.
