Do we all agree Golden talked to PSU?

Judging by the days he was silent and the nervousness/discomfort he showed in his interview and presser today...no doubt he talked to PSU.

Pretty clear what happened. They interviewed him. He wanted and expected and them to come down armed with an offer. They told him no offer yet because they had to interview others. He said Im in a ****storm here. I need an offer now. Of course it would be normal for him to feel heat. He had kids showing up for school Wednesday.

They said no so he pulled his name out. Golden isn't the guy right now you come armed with an offer in hand. You do that for Saban Meyer or maybe les miles.

I think is dead nuts what probably happened. Al might have dodged a bullet because the leadership at Penn State is the bottom of the barrel right now.

Cane4Life hits one out of the park

I also bet that this is the way it went down. too many Pennsylvania sources reporting there was an offer, too much smoke not to have Golden's agent talking with PSU. I bet that in the end either they would not give enough money, enough power, or maybe Al just decided it was too risky and he had something going well down at UM to mess it up

My personal belief is he absolutely talked to PSU. NO doubt.

I also believe he got offered. Reasons: Lot of highly regarded PSU followers and "insiders" who said he was offered. The "blackout". The fact that these things DONT happen the way the "haters" want to believe. PSU didnt come down here on some random fishing expedition. If they flew all their big wigs down here to meet AG, it was with a conditional offer in hand. AG would not have met with them, unless he felt they were likely to make him an offer.

I suspect he met with them and was made a conditional offer. I think he said he would take a few days to mull it over with his family. I believe he LOVES PSU, his alma mater, and has always dreamed of being the next Joe Pa at PSU. DESPITE this, I feel like his family probably didnt want to go, he was leery of the NCAA issues they have, may have felt like he was set up for failure up there, AND that he has a **** of a recruiting class coming in here, he really believes that he can win and win big here, and that he would be looked upon as a rat if he bolted on the recruits that believed in him. I think in the end, the PSU offer was not "an offer he cant refuse" and he passed.

AG was the first one they interviewed. AG had a LOT of buzz from PSU media, alumni, and former players even clammoring for him. They flew all the way down here to meet with him before any other coach. Im not buying for ONE second that "he went to them with his hat in hand and begged for a job". They wanted him, or at a minumum had him very high on their list.

In the end, we will never know what ACTUALLY went down, but I do feel they came down here and he met with them, and very likely got SOME kind of offer to consider.

Too much smoke for to long for this to not have been real. Al was their man. I believe they offered but something kept Al from accepting. Given what we know about Al, it was probably a problem with Mark. Nobody in their right mind would want Mark, so I think the offer prohibited Al from hiring Mark. Al probably said no way he dumps Mark. They called his bluff and set the other interviews. Al gave his boy and big hug and said, "I guess we stay in Miami."

Al will not be offered another job unless he fires Mark or wins a NC. He has hung his career on his own horrible defense the one DC dumb enough to buy into it. I am guessing PSU decided they wanted nothing to do with other arrogant HC who had a blind devotion to a strange looking DC. Once was enough for them.
