Do we all agree Golden talked to PSU?

people on here acting like they wouldn't talk to another company in their industry that might pay double their current salary...

Jim Mora didn't.

And you know that Mora was approached? Its been a running joke for a long time that coaches say b.s. like that to make it seem like they are being courted, and maybe even try to build leverage for a raise or an extension. Agents have coaches do that all the time, "take themselves" out of consideration for a job they were never really even seriously being considered for.

I am officially taking myself out of consideration for the staff writer job recently vacated by Tito Bench.

the fact he has yet to address the question tells me all i need to know...

...he wanted the job, they either told him no or that they were still going to take more time to consider other candidates...either way he isnt happy that he's still here, that looks CRYSTAL clear.

like rasheed wallace always said "ball dont lie"...in this case, "fat greasy faces dont lie"

Here is what I do not get. It is a good thing that other schools are interviewing your coach. It means he is either doing a good job or people think he is doing a good job (depending on where you sit on the Al Golden fence). This is going to happen no matter who our coaches. Unless we hire someone who Miami is truly their dream job (like Randy or Cristobal) or we have a coach who people think is doing a terrible job.

Ether way I rather have a coach wanted by other schools, than someone who is not.

He actively pursued the job.

He interviewed for the job Saturday.

Penn State was prepared to offer him job before the interview with the understanding he would take it.

They never offered him the job and really f'ed him over.

So you were able to cobble together a theory as to why you think Golden rejected Penn State, yet you find it so far fetched that Jim Mora immediately turned down the Texas job? Basically a discussion with you cannot be had because you will bend all the facts to fit your narrative.

Good to know

No, becuase I didnt affirm nor deny that Mora was considered or not considered for the Texas job. I have no idea if he was or wasnt, but are you really doing to deny that coaches come out and take themselves out of "consideration" for jobs all the time that no one seriously thinks they are being offered? In fact, if you pay attention, the guys MOST rumored to be in serious consideration, were the ones who were the most quiet about it. I just find the whole thing a bit comical. If UT had been interested in Mora, they would have reached out to his agent, and gauged if he had any interest. If he said no, that would have been that. It wasnt like there was all this national buzz that UT really wanted Mora. His name was just one random name of many tossed around. The big buzz was around Saban or Jimbo Fisher, not Mora.

Mora's "taking himself out of consideration' was, IMO, very likely a pure publicity stunt to make it seem like he really was being considered, while at the same time reaffirming that he's staying for recruits.

Mora didn't turn down Texas.. People who believe that are more naive than those who believe AG didn't interview for PSU. Fwiw I have no problems with him interviewing but I think the entire process (and him denying it) has been handled like it is amateur hour.

Whatever happened, I think it has to be one of these five things:

a) Offered and provisionally accepted, but can't be announced until due diligence is complete.
b) Offered and turned it down.
c) Wasn't offered but is still being considered.
d) Wasn't offered and is no longer being considered because PSU wants someone else.
e) Wasn't offered and is no longer being considered because he's now fully committed to Miami.

You can't make me believe they have Munchak higher. His resume is awful, he can't build a staff, he's not even a great OL coach, never coached in college, never crooted, boring, bland, etc.

I think PSU is doing their due diligence. Out of the 3 coaches tied to the job, only one fits the bill. My gut is telling me this might not be over.

God I hope so.

a friend of mine went to PSU, he was involved with their alumni programs. During this entire Golden saga this is what he told me

- PSU is ran like a mob. HC for PSU gets allot of power. Joe Pa had the entire community eating out of his hand and the admin at the school felts very threatened. They want a coach that they can control so they are going to do everything on their terms and not give anyone an inch.

- He said Golden would of been a perfect fit for them but if Golden gave them a timeline, they would of missed it on purpose just to show him they are in control not him.

- regarding Doritto, his is what he told him "Golden doesn't know what pressure from the board is" Dorritto was most likely asked about allot during the interview so Golden knew at PSU he can't protect him.

these are his opinion but his family use to donate allot of money to PSU until the whole baby raping thing happened

Hes not going to be able to protect Donofrio here either beyond this year. If they dont have a major improvement on D next year, his @ss is in big trouble and Donofrio is going to sink him like an anchor around his neck.

I want Golden to do well but the man was shady as **** thru all this. Something aint right. You cant show me another situation like this. We might never know what happened but its pretty obvious that Golden was on the next train outta Coral Gables if everything went right.

Is a buyout a buyout? If a school bought out ALs contract would it be the same amount if Miami fired him and bought it out?

I think its a little different. If we owed Al 6 million and fired him we would owe him 6 million. But the buyout clause if he leaves might be somethign like a 1.5 million flat fee no matter when he breaks the contract.
