Do we all agree Golden talked to PSU?

Does anyone believe he had zero contact with them, and the swirling rumors and the communication blackout was simply a coincidence?

I'm just curious where everyone is on this.

Man, honestly I dont know what to think.

-Did he interview out of courtesy to PSU?
-Did he get offered the job, but couldn't bring his friend?
-Did he get offered the job, and turned it down because they are still facing sanctions?
-Did he want the Job, but wifey said no?
-Did he get offered the job, but PSU had Munchak higher rated?
-Did he get offered the job, then his feelings got hurt when they wanted to do more interviews?

It's to many variables!

You can't make me believe they have Munchak higher. His resume is awful, he can't build a staff, he's not even a great OL coach, never coached in college, never crooted, boring, bland, etc.

I think PSU is doing their due diligence. Out of the 3 coaches tied to the job, only one fits the bill. My gut is telling me this might not be over.

My personal belief is he absolutely talked to PSU. NO doubt.

I also believe he got offered. Reasons: Lot of highly regarded PSU followers and "insiders" who said he was offered. The "blackout". The fact that these things DONT happen the way the "haters" want to believe. PSU didnt come down here on some random fishing expedition. If they flew all their big wigs down here to meet AG, it was with a conditional offer in hand. AG would not have met with them, unless he felt they were likely to make him an offer.

I suspect he met with them and was made a conditional offer. I think he said he would take a few days to mull it over with his family. I believe he LOVES PSU, his alma mater, and has always dreamed of being the next Joe Pa at PSU. DESPITE this, I feel like his family probably didnt want to go, he was leery of the NCAA issues they have, may have felt like he was set up for failure up there, AND that he has a **** of a recruiting class coming in here, he really believes that he can win and win big here, and that he would be looked upon as a rat if he bolted on the recruits that believed in him. I think in the end, the PSU offer was not "an offer he cant refuse" and he passed.

AG was the first one they interviewed. AG had a LOT of buzz from PSU media, alumni, and former players even clammoring for him. They flew all the way down here to meet with him before any other coach. Im not buying for ONE second that "he went to them with his hat in hand and begged for a job". They wanted him, or at a minumum had him very high on their list.

In the end, we will never know what ACTUALLY went down, but I do feel they came down here and he met with them, and very likely got SOME kind of offer to consider.

I could understand an employer giving a courtesy interview, e.g. the Rooney Rule in the NFL, but I don't buy a guy who supposedly is at a "destination job" jeopardizing his standing with fans, recruits, and administrators by talking to PSU if he had zero interest.

The fact he was seriously considering the offer troubles me. Flirting with PSU and then going back to Miami does a lot of damage.

Golden seems to have enough situational intelligence to realize that.

I disagree. Weve known about this since he was hired. It has always been a fairly widely accepted knowledge here that if ANY place was a threat for Golden to jump ship, it was to PSU. We know it was his dream job. Its his Alma Mater, **** IT PAYS TWICE what he makes here. LMAO. How many people turn down DOUBLING your salary?

I dont think its troubling he considered it. Dave Wanndstet "considered" Paul Dee's offer before he turned us down in 2000, Schiano "considered" our offer before turning us down.

AG can easily spin this IMO. Just tells recruits "look, it was my alma mater, my dream job growing up, I owed it to them to listen, they even offered me a big raise, and I still turned it down, because I believe so much in what we are doing here".

Al Golden sucks at this whole "Jedi-mind-trick" thing.
