What did it say?

I would imagine if our NIL was strong the last 2 years with us going 5-7 and 7-6 that with the season we're having our boosters will get Mario whoever he wants.
I agree but the issue is not whether we have the money, but whether LSU has offered an NIL package that is so far above the market value for the player and position he plays that UM may be unwilling to match it.

Now you could argue that there is no such thing as market value as the market is basically what anyone is willing to pay. But as with most things in life, some deals are pure aberrations. Think Deshaun Watson’s deal with the Browns.

It’s a good discussion. People use NIL as a scapegoat so much now there’s gotta be some people that are managing it closely like any other budget.

Probably how other teams felt trying to pursue Cam. I remember asking some OSU people about their chances (I assumed early he would go there) and they said “can’t afford him”

They certainly have the money but I took it the way you’re describing it like maybe a team like Miami would just be willing to set a mark that’s too high

I don’t want to speak too much about the Cam situation though since I really don’t know anything about how it went down

Is it possible that even though there is playing time to be had in the secondary next year! But, lsu is saying lack of development is the reason for how the secondary is playing?... Is their secondary better then ours?

I think it’s about timing. At the time it may have been above market and we may have thought that we could convince him to switch. But maybe now we are willing to match it, when we could have before. Just negotiating tactic. Also we probably have some large payments coming off the books next year. It’s always fluid. You can’t just offer the most at the beginning. Be in the ballpark to start.

Avg recruit rating still king in my eyes

Team ranking matters sure and evals will always be part of the process. But the difference between a 90.5-91.50 and a 93+ is huge to me

If we can break into that top group you mentioned then we got something going
I think 2026 will be our best year, we have momentum and are trending upwards as a program

Miami has continued to try and push for Pickett but he’s locked in on being a Tiger. Future position coach Corey Raymond is the lead recruiter.

“It’s been over since July,” the elder Pickett said. “SEC football, every week playing against some of the best, he knows he has to get to work. Knows he has a lot to learn. Knows he has to get there and get going.
