Disaster to end the cycle

Dude "overspending" is a business decision. you over spend to get Pickett or Jeremiah Smith, you dont overspend to get a kid like Stubbs with high bust potential who will shake you down the moment his freshman season is over with the threat of the portal. You can find a proven guy in the portal. NOW, my concern is getting the portal evals right.
So is there anyone we will sign that we did “overspend” on?

I really think you are being hard on Mario. He was a different coach all season. Going for it on 4th down deep in our territory multiple times. Sure, kicking that field goal wasn't the smartest move, but I hardly think he was a gameday liability when you look at the season in totality.

It goes deeper than gameday liability…we’re past that. Can he get the team ready to play week in and week out? What is his input on the defense? Yes the coordinators are responsible for their units but there needs to be accountability from the Head Coach.

It works in any field..if you have a senior manager who can’t get his managers to perform than where does the fault go to blame? Does Mario have the knowledge to supercede decisions? Why was Guidry allowed to not make changes all year? Why was 7 never benched? Constant issues on communication (weekly prep/walkthroughs) It goes deeper than “gameday” coaching. Does he have the football acumen to step in and say “this is f**** up” this is how we fix it..etc

To make matters worse…the main thing he has come in to do is build a roster with HS recruiting and coming off a number 1 offense, boat racing the state of Florida on the field and we are looking at a maybe top 10 finish. This won’t cut it.

2 Merritt was not really a commit.
Stubbs tried to play bag game and they didn’t want to overpay.

Nix was a real loss because he had concerns with Def staff.

Merritt was trying to leverage us with Tenn …we told him to eff off

Don't understand not overpaying with Stubbs. He's a great prospect at a position of dire need and we haven't flipped anyone with Mario's big spatula so we should have extra money to spend.

You. Cannot anticipate a school deciding to use millions of dollars accrued for the buyout of a coach for NIL. It’s simply not predictable. This signing day is just another nail in the coffin of football the way it used to be. Kids do t care about relationships; they have agents and representatives who do the talking for them. This doesn’t help coaches like Mario whose strength is building bonds. Believe me, he will be better equipped for this going forward. I truly don’t think anyone anticipated the $$ factor to play out the way it has. And not that $$ would be a factor; more that for many of these big time kids it’s the ONLY factor. They don’t care about anything else. They can always transfer for another payday

We spent very little money on this 2025 class respectively. Not expecting other schools to throw big NIL bags is ridiculous (even if you don’t expect that school to be Florida someone else will). Money is a factor and even if we landed our original committed class, someone is deciding to spend like a non elite NIL school.

Me waiting/hoping for the late unexpected flips we've gotten every year Mario was here

Spending more and spending 2-3X what a kid should get are very different things
I’d argue that UF is the only one spending at the level they are Because they know it’s their only shot. The $$ is there from the expected buyout. I wonder what will happen if they lose the court case to Rashada?
