If Golden wants to be taken seriously, he will completely turn the defense over to someone different.

An interesting note: Golden has been a DC or HC for 13 seasons, during that time, his defenses have averaged a ranking of 66th in the country. He needs to realize he's not the next Buddy Ryan, and focus on recruiting.

If he wants to win here, his best strategy is to become like Pete Carroll - recruit well in a talent-rich area, and hire quality coordinators. Because you cannot possibly retain D'Onofrio and this defensive philosophy without demoralizing the fanbase and team.

If this was a court case, you'd present this piece of data...then proceed to drop the mic and walk away.

There is no excuse in the history of excuses that will support Golden if he chooses not to fire Onfrio.

Some of you are missing the point...we all knew the defense sucked ****. This graph gives you some RELATIVE comparison points for the **** sucking.

Anyway, the point is if Golden wants to be "the guy" at Miami, his first step is having some self-awareness, being able to evaluate what he's been doing, realize it's not working, and having the balls to completely hand over control to a new coordinator.

If he's able to understand this is a business, fire his friend, scratch his philosophy, and start over, we'll know he's serious. But if he keeps D'Onofrio on, and remains stubborn, it's only a matter of time...

I've posted this in another thread. In 13 years hes only been apart of two top 30 defenses and both Temple and Virginia were statistically better the year after he left. The guys scheme and philosophy suck. Only chance for success is to turn it over to someone else.

It is a great visual but really how many more threads do we need to have about the fact the defense is broken and needs to be fixed. Instead of spending time doing all this "research" send an email to the AD telling him that as a season ticket holder you want change or you will not renew your tickets. You could even attach the graph you made.

Some action needs to be taken. Banners everyday, billboards, whatever it takes. I'm not going to be able to take another year of this defense. Then if Doritos ends up landing somewhere else and we hire Al Groh, I may just have to stop watching college football.

I get the "let's stop beating the dead horse" sentiment regarding how bad the defense is, but stuff like this is insightful and has some substance, it's not your run-of-the-mill "yeah, Anthony Moten committed but we'll ask him to play pattycake HUR HUR HUR" garbage.

I rarely disagree with you Swags, but the pathetic crying has to stop, its ruining the site. The OP is one of the worst offenders. 32 above is right; instead of starting dozens of new threads on the SAME TOPIC, write the AD. Money is way more powerful than whining non stop.

In a perfect world I agree with you, but we don't want this to become a place where negative stuff isn't allowed or we can't discuss some uncomfortable things like the OP did in this thread. I don't think any of the admins/mods want this to be that kind of place. The hope is that it's intelligent discussion - positive or negative, insightful things being posted & considered, with thoughtful discussion going both ways. Guy went to the trouble of making a chart with performance data that was something I hadn't seen spelled out so clearly... to me, if that's the "negative" material then the board is worthwhile. Now.... the other crap that's getting slung around here lately, you're probably right that it's overboard and hurting quality. I think all of the admins/mods would love to live on here and just perfectly craft it into message board perfection but we have real lives/families and it's hard to wade through it all. Anyway, not wanting this to be a crying session on that topic, just offering my thoughts on "negative" posters/posts and what is/isn't of value in my own personal opinion.

9-3......the 10th win has some fans scared that golden will get to 10 wins...while...well you know
