Diaz’s success has to be parlayed into D recruiting!

What part do you disagree with?
Lolol

You’d be selling empty rooms on the titanic hours after it hit the iceberg.

Kids with choices don’t want or need the incomptence this program arrogantly displays.

The nfl finds kids everywhere, in any case. And our ability to keep top local talent at home gets worse every year.

We need to actually win games, not recruit kids who just want to go to the nfl. That gives us guys who leave early to be 7th round picks, and even guys with first round talent who are just nfl focused rather than UM focused.

So much wrong with this program. So much wrong with your logic, imo.

We need to cash in on coach Diaz’ success this year. Who would not want to play in that aggressive D. Lineman allowed to stunt, CB’s can play man to man blitz etc. Safety are free to roam and bust ****. LB’s have new Stryker addition. Let’s sell this story bc it has easy proof to point to.

Football is a team game. The problem is, a defense can be great, but if the W’s aren’t there, then they can still be undervalued at the next level b/c they will be overlooked. U think Gerald Willis is not a shoe in 1st team All ACC if Miami goes 11-1/10-2? Of course. So unfortunately, even though our defensive guys are doing well, as a team, we are not and that’s a huge turnoff.

I don’t care what anyone says but to me this is an indictment on Diaz and the staff. Top 3 Defense in the nation yet you struggle to find elite kids who want to play for you?

Neg away.

The cloud MR have put over this program is as bad as probation. It killed the season and sent recruiting down the drain. Kids are fed up of this christian crap and lack of football.

I agree to a degree but Diaz has struggled with recruiting in the past. In theory, this year should be easier for Diaz to draw in more elite kids. Results and Depth are on his side.

I understand your point but i think Leach could get away with it because he's already a popular figure with a crazy personality that I think kids would gravitate to. If Manny didnt coach at UM I dont think most south Florida kids would even know who he was not the case with Leach.

It's year 3 and Diaz has continuously put out top defensive units while at Miami that seem to get better by year-by-year. If kids don't know whom Diaz is by now in South Florida, they don't even have a legit interest in Miami.

LSU didnt seem to have that problem during Les Miles era. South Florida kids are flakey
If it is just dawning on you that a small private school is not like a giant state institution, then you’re going to continue to be surprised by recruiting.

Miami kids have two choices for major in-state public univerities in UF and FSU, and are picked over by Alabama, UGA, OSU, Clemson, Auburn and other programs. That’s just the deal. We have much local talent around, but the amount of it also means we have competition for it. Rather than blame So Fla kids, why not blame the institution for putting such an embarrassingly incompetent program together and failing to make the choice attractive to local kids?

Different times now. Kids were babies when we were ruling College football.
You commented that kids ‘nowadays’ want to join winners. That implies that somehow kids in the past didn’t care about winning. Except why try to argue kids have changed, when what has most obviously changed is our program is no longer credible?

We have been recruiting as a ‘winning’ program since Schnelly. JJ and Butch were also the two best talent evaluators of their generation, proven in the NFL as well as cfb. Sadly, the losing and ineptitude has gone on so long, and is so obvious, that the UM pitch just ain’t believable anymore.

Clearly u don’t understand my comment. My comment about how this kids were babies last time we were on top of college football confirms that kids want to join winning teams. Also implies the nostalgia that we all have for our Canes kids don’t care about.

All people want to join winners. Except losers.

Dominating the likes of Fiu isnt going to get these kids attention. We need to dominate in high profile games and win them. Thats the reason a guy like Brent Venables is nationally known and Diaz isnt. On top of that we need to produce 1st , 2nd and 3rd round picks consistantly on defense.

Kids want the fastest way to the NFL with the biggest campus/TV notoriety possible.

Richt only knows what he knows, but he is also at a point in his career where he simply doesn't care if he is fired, and that is not good for a program which is desperately trying to be relevant again. He knows his offense can be a winning offense, but he won't admit to himself that it only works when you have the best athletes on the field by a mile. We don't because we ain't Bama, and because he is not out-scheming anybody with the same dives, zone-reads, and slant passes every 3 downs. This eventually takes a toll on the D because they can have 10 takeaways a game, but if the O can't average at least 1 touchdown a quarter, you still look silly. Your turnover chain now looks silly when you literally wear it for a commercial break and have to go back out there.

This now looks like the end of the Golden era except it is happening faster because these recruits are old enough to remember the Golden era, so there is less benefit of the doubt given for ****** results. Will Richt sack up, and do what's right, and fix it? Or will he wait until a hand is forced, hopefully not running Manny off in the process?

Tbh it has little to nothing to do with winning and losing (in most cases) when it comes to SEC💰💰 vs Miami..kids come on visits and see the lack of fan support/community support in miami at times. Having a full stadium when kids visit matters Literally every school in the a SEC has a rabid fan base through winning and down years. Think of Tenn. NEYLAND IS ALWAYS PACKED.
Now when Miami is/was rolling💰💰 Yeaa. But even after a 10-3 season You had south Florida kids who we wanted dip...it’s why I don’t lose sleep as far as recruiting. We need to get kids who want to be here. The kids like the two OL who flipped to UF let them go. I’ll never bash a kid for making a choice. But tbh I’d rather get a kid who wants to be here rather it’s winning double digits or having a 8-5 type season. Sounds dumb to some but it’s the truth

We had the #2 rated total defense this year. Miami has dominated defensively. You're not seeing that reflect in the win column because our offense is beyond awful.
