Devante Bond and Alex Figueroa

Just look at Eddie Johnson and Deon Bush this early in Golden's tenure. Johnson runs people down like they just mugged his Mother and are getting away. He makes sure to pop up and let the other sideline know who just made that tackle. Then you have Deon, who has no regard for his well-being. He got comfortable in the final, I wanna say 5 games, and he started showing up everywhere. Angry, too. He hits people like a Kamikaze pilot. I remember him being ****ed that they wanted to take him out of the VT game after he cracked someone and destroyed his own shoulder.

Guys like that are just wired differently. They take it personally when someone scores on them. Or when they miss a tackle. It eats at them inside and fuels them to go harder. Huge disparity between that and some of the kids during the Dark Ages here that visibly didn't give a **** if they were getting destroyed. They were just happy to be at Miami and couldn't wait to go out that night. We need guys who have the mindset that this isn't "just a game." I'm not exactly sure how you discover that information about a recruit, but I think Golden has a handle on it.

Interestingly enough, Deon wasn't known for that attitude in HS. He was an enigma.

You can tell that something clicked with him. I, too, saw him play in high school and thought to myself that the kid was missing that want-to to make plays. He seemed almost to just coast through games without really making a significant impact. All the physical attributes you would look for in a player but for whatever reason it didn't translate into on field production.

Fast forward to this year and I was blown away by all the plays he was making. Not only the bone jarring hits, but his understanding of coverages, zones, angles ect.

You can tell he really settled in the last 6 games and was playing confident. I expect a huge year from him this upcoming year and we will start seeing some actual play making which has been missing from our secondary since K. Phillips freshmen year.

Great posts here.

If you were to rewind the clock say, a year and a half, and told people that Deon was going to play safety like a ruthless kamikaze pilot as a true freshman, you would be sent to the funny farm.

Great post. Totally agree. Perryman is also cut from the same cloth. When we get interior defensive linemen with that mentality the circle will be complete.

We are finally laying the groundwork to have the explosive speed rushers on the edge our rivals to the north have been pumping out. Too bad for FSU, poor coaching has held them back from realizing expectations, bc they have had a lot of talent recently. It's going to be a return to dominance for UM in the relatively near future, provided we can get/develop studs on the interior. Just hope we can hang onto golden for a long time.

No mention of Tyriq Mccord in all this fast twitch homoerotic conversation?

I like the edge rushers we are bringing in, we need more DT's though to make the DL complete.

If Terry can keep himself from getting thrown off the team he's one of those dudes who will emerge from nowhere and be a star. He's a perfect blend of athletic ability, chip on shoulder, and desire to be great. He needs to find a way to channel that anger and those inner demons into something productive.

When he made that inside move in the last game against Duke, I had to rub my eyes and slap myself
I was at that game jerze and that was the moment my godson and I were like he might be special.
