Derrick Worthy 2016 JUCO CB is available as Late UM Option

I'll pass no point in wasting scholarships for prospects right now because of the overblown fear of the cbs depth. There are some talented cbs in the 2017 and 2018 and we will take a bunch of numbers in those classes so no point in taking reaches right now unless it's *jc jackson* but that won't happen. Elder, redwine, Jackson, Colbert, Maleek young, possibly Jaquan Johnson* if he moves to nickel corner in 2016 will be more than enough at the spot......

I guess it depends on years of eligibility. If a Juco has 3 years...I can understand your point. If he has two....it shouldn't hurt '17 and '18 recruiting. How many does he have left?

Most usually only have two left, but some could have 3 and some could have only 1.

He has been reaching out to Coach Rumph. At this point Worthy is worth a look, even if he is just to add depth or a nickel corner.

watched this kids tape for one minute and he is a take. He plays the ball well with good speed , he would contribute right away. Im not a very optimistic person on this board but I see talent and aggressiveness

Thnx.....I understand eligibility situations....another poster said it would effect '17-18 classes. One or two years shouldn't effect them much....3 years could be a different story...that said, we cannot expect to get every good cb in sfla in those two years...at the end
of the day....some will choose other schools...FSU, UF, Bama, Clem, OSU, USC etc.....have established good relationships that aren't going away anytime soon.. We have a good team ( with a few holes to fill) capable of making a run....it would be wise to worry about what happens on the field "this season".....cuz it "will" definitely effect our present/future recruiting. I would but his DMs aren't open.

who recruited you outta high school?

Utah State, Weber State & some other D1AA and D2s. I played three sports in high school and I wasn't able to go to many camps so I didn't get much exposure. I'm a lot better than the player I was in high school though.

How many years would you have left?
I have 3 years to play 2 seasons. Meaning I still have my red shirt if needed but that wouldn't be the ideal situation.

I would take, would def help with depth and competition. You know a corner or two of ours will get banged up throughout the season. I would even say he is better than Mayes and the rest of the bottom group.

Of course but if you sign and dont beat anyone out to get any meaningful minutes then why not take it to develope learn and earn snaps and maybe starts. You can think whatever but this is how i was tought. Im in my early 20's. Js

Just based on his tape, I have little doubt this Worthy kid is better than Mayes and Henley. Without knowing what all our options are, it's hard to say if he's a take - but he's likely better than than at least a couple of our scholarship DB's.

Regardless, since he's come on here to answer questions, I hope things work out for him. If not at Miami, some FBS school needs to give him a chance

Lets be honest here, if we take him or ANY juco/transfer cb NOWish, it is to play THIS Fall. So having 3 to play 2 is great in theory, but if the newly infused cb can't play this year for any other reason than injury, then the take has to be considered a FAIL.
