Derrick Worthy 2016 JUCO CB from Cali is available as a Late UM Option , since he decommitted from UTSA. Worthy is supposedly the 4th best juco DB in California. He was a full qualifier coming out high school but under the radar so he went JUCO.

Wait? So he's not a take for UTSA, but he's a take for us?! C'mon man... :jordan:

I know we got issues and all at that position, but I don't want us to be out chea just grabbing warm bodies for the **** of it. I'd rather just hold on to that 'ship till next year if we can't get nobody better.
 
He has been reaching out to Coach Rumph. At this point Worthy is worth a look, even if he is just to add depth or a nickel corner.

I still say go after JC Jackson as well, and try to add them both if Worthy passes an indepth evaluation by staff.

OK. He's not bad. I still don't know if it warrants an offer, tho. He looks to have good speed. Whats his story? How did he end up casting his lot with UTSA? Looks a little on the smaller side. How tall is he? weight? Speed?

We don't need more nickel guys, we need one more outside guy and I think our secondary would be solidified

If he was a 5th year senior/graduate transfer kid then Id say lets take a one year chance. But he isn't. Lets pass. We could probably land a walk-on with a similar skill set anyways.
 
I love how they show the same highlight from a different angle and try and pass it off as a brand new highlight. As far as whether he's a take or not, the only question I have is: have you seen our cb depth?

Yea true we have Malek who I believe is going to be like Brandon Harris. He has the speed and athleticism to play all over the field. Young, Johnson, Wright & James look like better athletes to work with IMO...on the flipside, Worthy looks a bit faster than his 11.33...could be the competition or good football speed...who knows? I guess it wouldn't hurt to add him for depth purposes in a depleted secomdary.....it's hard to tell how good he really is....those kids on tape look like unknowns to me...anybody know anything about the talent in that league? Why only one offer? Lots of question marks....
 
I like that Worthy caught all of his interceptions with his hands rather than trapping them with body, which shows he has some ball skills and he plays well on the outside.

His school Orange Coast college finished 2nd in their league with a 7-4 record, but I am not sure how tough his league is.

After seeing Miami's spring game I think UM needs to definitely evaluate Worthy and bring in JC Jackson. Because if Miami had better WR play then I am thinking the DB's would have been toast in the spring game.
