Derrick Griffin update

Kids are saying that the new test is tough as **** compared to the old one.

Interesting. I know the Florida one is very easy. Out here in CA, the test is so easy that my son's school gives it to juniors, just so they can get it out of the way. lol

Oh, don't get me wrong, this is relative.... it can't be too difficult or we'd have millions of morons stuck in high school.

As opposed to millions of them manning drive-thrus of cities and towns nationwide?

Yup. Functional intelligence.

Awesome thread.....

Go canes?

Don't mean to be a negative Nancy, but it might raise eye at the Eligibility Center if the kid improved his standarized test score and GPA yet couldn't pass the exit exam. Let's hope it goes well.

So you are saying if he doesn't pass the test that allows him to be eligible he may raise some eyebrows about his eligibility?

/hits obvious button

Getting this kid in would be ****ing huge.

Adding him and Elder late is highly overlooked around here.

I mean Elder is a great addition, kinda replaces what Kevin Grooms could have been. Griffin though, this kid is some next level ****. Go to any Texas site and you will hear the same thing; he won't qualify, has issues, but based on talent was a top 3 talent in Texas. Big big time. If this kid makes it, plus Coley I ain't even worried bout Lane. Now if we do add Lane to those to, Olsen, Kaya, and crew plus other QBs in the future will be salivating at a chance to be at Miami. We would have the best WR Corp in the nation at that point, well at least on paper.

We have the best WR core in the nation right now but I agree with everything else you said.

What are Griffin's measurables again? Never really thought there was a chance of getting him into school so didn't pay that close of attention.

Even if he passes the exam he could still get flagged by the NCAA right? Fingers crossed everything works out. I've tried to keep from getting too excited about Griffin until he's on campus and it's a done deal, but he's an absolute monster.

If Griffin and Coley both get on campus.....we are going to be an absolute nightmare for ACC defenses.

Yeah I wouldn't be shocked if a school like A&M tried to flag him and have the NCAA take a closer look, even if he gets his scores. From what I had read, they thought it was such a long shot that they didn't even send him a LOI

Precisely.

A poster on InsidetheU, who's wife teaches in San Antonio, said that the new test doesn't get implemented until next year.

I can't definitively claim otherwise. I saw a discussion between HS upperclassmen saying how sorry they felt for underclassmen and comparing the types of questions. Perhaps they were referencing a sample test.

The A&M fans were positive this kid wouldn't get into school. Not gonna get my hopes up, but this would be nice.

JMO, but if this kid doesnt qualify, we wont ever see him in a Cane uniform.

Honestly, not sure why fans know private information like an academic transcript. Most of it is BS and hearsay.

I think we have a better than average shot at him coming back. We were the only team to give him a shot.

The Texas test is needed to graduate high school. Assuming he passes that, NCAA clearinghouse and UM admissions are two seperate entities. He can matriculate to UM but not pass the clearinghouse. At that point he can still enroll and pass the clearing house for the 2nd semester. So if he graduates and is admitted he can just wait out the clearinghouse as a "red-shirt" type year.
