### Derrick Griffin, rivals.com’s No. 3 receiver prospect and No. 81 hoops prospect in this class, must still pass a Texas-required “exit test” to be eligible to attend UM and play football and basketball, his Terry (Tx.)-based high school athletic director said, adding resolution is expected within a couple weeks. The athletic director said junior colleges have been in contact with Griffin in case he doesn't qualify. The athletic director, Mike Rice, said he could not speculate on the chances of Griffin passing the test, though everyone is hopeful.

UM's basketball team is really counting on him to contribute significantly this season. Rice said his GPA and ACT score have met requirements.

Wow didnt realize he was this close to clearing. If he has all the other scores the odds of him passing the exit test are probably pretty good. I had basically written him out of this class already as a prep guy because the way espn made it sound when he flipped to us was that his grades were atrocious. This is really good news, IMO.

Getting this kid in would be ******* huge.

Adding him and Elder late is highly overlooked around here.

Didn't think there was a snowball's chance in **** we saw him this fall.

But things are looking up. If it's just a general "exit test," I like Griffin's chances. Good on the kid!

Are we sure it's just an "exit test"? i dont wanna get my hopes up If his GPA and ACT are good enough this test can't be that bad for him can it?

I mean Elder is a great addition, kinda replaces what Kevin Grooms could have been. Griffin though, this kid is some next level ****. Go to any Texas site and you will hear the same thing; he won't qualify, has issues, but based on talent was a top 3 talent in Texas. Big big time. If this kid makes it, plus Coley I ain't even worried bout Lane. Now if we do add Lane to those to, Olsen, Kaya, and crew plus other QBs in the future will be salivating at a chance to be at Miami. We would have the best WR Corp in the nation at that point, well at least on paper.

Don't mean to be a negative Nancy, but it might raise eye at the Eligibility Center if the kid improved his standarized test score and GPA yet couldn't pass the exit exam. Let's hope it goes well.

The amount of weapons on the offensive side of the ball is unreal. Just wait for a couple years it will be a mixture of the Florida years with Harvin herandez cooper and Louis Murphy and new England's style with the multiple tight end sets using them in the backfield ad in-line.

A quick google search found...

"With STAAR, high school students will have to perform better on harder tests and take more of them. Under the current system, standardized tests do not count toward final grades, and students must pass four exit-level exams to graduate. Now, for the first time, students will have to achieve a cumulative score across 12 end-of-course exams to graduate. And their scores on the exams will count toward 15 percent of their final grade, with the option to retake the exam three times if they do not pass. (They are required to retake it if they do not achieve a certain minimum score.) Educators say that could result in more days spent testing students; they also worry that it could have students playing a game of risk with their scores — opting not to retake one test with the hope of scoring higher on a future one."

Yea, that confused the **** out of me too. Good luck to the kid, he is gonna need it.

That's right they didn't win a national title. I'm not saying they are likable but they had a pretty good roster. Don't let your hatered cloud your better judgement bud.

Griffin will play day 1 if he makes it in and should be a flex TE like Jimmy was here and is now with the saints.

i thought we had a pretty good returning wr corp coming back hurns, dorsett, lewis, waters, and scott. but adding coley and griffin will be atrocious

Looking good. I can't imagine the exit test would be harder than the ACT/SAT. I'm really looking forward to this guy playing some ball for the next few years. Focus...focus...focus

Kids are saying that the new test is tough as **** compared to the old one.

Interesting. I know the Florida one is very easy. Out here in CA, the test is so easy that my son's school gives it to juniors, just so they can get it out of the way. lol

Oh, don't get me wrong, this is relative.... it can't be too difficult or we'd have millions of morons stuck in high school.
