D'Eriq King now SMU QB Coach

I don't think anyone bashed him during his time here. Well, when TVD took over the offense opened up. Everyone still loved and respected King.

They did bash him. Claimed he was overrated and folded against good defenses especially after we got smoked by Bama. Many said we were better off with TVD after he took over and finished the season strong.
I think a lot of it might have been DDS (Diaz Derangement Syndrome) where admitting that Diaz landed an exceptional QB in the portal would be physically and emotionally too difficult to process.

Well, they were right.

They still praised King for his leadership. Overall an excellent player for the organization and the steady hand we needed.

Revisionist history.

He had his problems and wasn't what we were promised. But commenting on that isn't the same as bashing him.
Promised what exactly? What did you expect from him? 4000 yards passing 1500 yards rushing? He beat the **** out of a ranked Louisville team and FSU, he single handed won games. Wasn’t his fault the defense gave up record setting numbers against UNC, he was given terrible WR’s, and that he blew his knee out in the bowl game.

The defense was atrocious during his time here. Did you really expect him to beat number 1 Clemson on the road in 2020 and to beat number 1 Alabama to open up the 2021 season when he clearly wasn’t 100% and should not have been playing to start that season?

Because not too long ago, people were questioning if black players had the intelligence to play QB let alone coach it. 16 black coaches out of 134 FBS schools. I'd imagine the ratio of QB coaches are even less.

That’s roughly 12% of the population of coaches, which is nearly identical to the overall % of black people in the population.

What is the correlation to the QP’s question?

You need to take a chill pill. Go get laid, ********** in VR, go out for a walk.

What is the overall percentage of black players in cfb? It would be interesting to see that comparison. I think it would be more relevant than percentage to overall population. Now I say that as someone who is very anti DEI. If the reality is that teams are hiring the best regardless of color, no problem that’s how meritocracies work. If however, 40-50% of players are black (I am giving a hypothetical), and only 12% of coaches are black, I don’t take issue with looking into the reasons why there might be a disparity. As for QB coaches, there haven’t been nearly as many black QBs as white QBs, so it’s noteworthy that a black QB became a QB coach, especially if UM helped him get there.

Player skill set and Coach skill set differ, but it is a great question to ask. We know there is a disparity.

Why the disparity is the question.
