How close is he to 100% we really need him to comeback @ as close to full strength as possible for this game.

Honestly, I kind of give the guy a pass this year. Dealing with a hernia surgery AND his dad having cancer. That can take a toll on a person mentally. He could be distracted. And we cant sit here and say "he better get Undistracted if he wants to play here/represent the U". These things happen. Hopefully we just see him in the game and light it up, but in the meantime maybe we shouldn't question his play and just hope for the best for him and his dad.

I also think he is dealing with getting used to carrying the extra weight on top of not being in peak shape due to the hernia ruining his preseason. I think that is really what is slowing his return to what we are used to seeing. I see him coming back big time next year.

I just hope for a miracle,,, Imagine this... Bush 100% and EJ - the goon back with the team. Good lawd!!

Coming back from hernia surgery is a totally weird deal in how long it really takes to be "back". Varies a lot, from what I've seen. I had it in my 20's, took a good year.

This....I for one am very happy as a Canes fan that Deon's on the team and don't doubt his talent for a second. But I think he needs a year to get back to the Deon we know and I don't have the highest expectations for him this year. I do however hope Deon is taking advantage of learning the defense inside and out for next year when its his turn to shine again.

I suspect it's not as much that he's unhealthy as that he missed a lot of practice time and also isn't in the best shape but it doesn't really matter which aspect is more responsible.

The injury slowed him down definitely..... but i'd say health wise he's back to being "100%" but now it's the issue of missing an entire Fall Camp, and having to regain the ability to react quick which is somewhat due to the speed that was lost b/c of the type of surgery he had to go through.

Really tough situation.... but it's one of those things where he probably wont be fully "back" until after he goes through a healthy off season.

Hopefully he can mask it this game and make some noise against FSU.... still want him on the field over AJ Highsmith.

Was thinking that earlier imagine if EJ didn't goon his way out of the program. DP and EJ yikes.

Maybe should have shirted him cause if he continues to play at this level of play it's a lost season for him that would have been better spent shirted

I don't think he is in school for 5 years. I think if he can help us now (not yet), he needs to play regardless.

Yup but if he doesn't do anything worth noting what was the point of playing this season?

Possible won't see the best of Bush and Lewis till next season. Anything we get before then is a bonus.

I understand but the season is not over yet, so maybe he will do something. He has played in a few games this year so it's not like he is just coming back for FSU...lot of time left, at least 6 games. Also, we're lacking players at the position.

I see where your trying to make a comparison to the RB position but at the safety position not being 100% can lead us giving up big plays over the top or looking ridiculous like Rodgers last year against FSU. Save the year get healthy ball out for another 2 years cause this season isn't helping his nfl draft stock so he can leave early next year he's got at least 2 more years here on the guarantee
