Deion Vs. Mario

What other marquee games year in, year out are we supposed to sell to recruits? UNC?!

Your question is irrelevant if we are winning like we were supposed to, not losing games to shtty ACC schools. We should be able to sell our program to recruits based on who were and this is done by winning your conference and playing in the playoffs, not the Sun Bowl.

I don't want to deviate from the thread too much (although the thread is kind of silly), but most of our best memories involve UM-FSU games. Wide Right I and II. The Sean Taylor Game. My best memory as a fan is Dorsey to Shockey. Meaningful games produce meaningful memories. And those are the games people talk about and recruits want to play in. The schedule of late has been pretty bad. I don't know about you, but if I was a recruit, I'd certainly look at what team is on TV playing big games and which isn't.

You must be young.

I'm old....Old enough to remember that north Florida school exploiting every single inch of that 1990s probation that was thrown at our program, even exploiting the murder of one of our players. That program and its surrounding latrine disguised as a town can rot in perpetual hades....may every single resident of that town suffer genitalia issues, including herpes...and that goes for their football program.

This is a great move by barstools. They don’t get this publicity if he goes to fsu or flipped to UGA. Idk how much Deion had to do with it but good luck duplicating it and keeping up now that the big boys know what’s up.

Some folks just refuse to give Deion credit. Folks act like he is some kind of imbecile who is incapable of being a good football coach. That he is just lucky or living off his celebrity. And i think that perception has very little to do with him being a Nole.

Fair points.
But we are a mediocre program in a mediocre conference which means after we stink it up in Septembet recruits won't get to see us play unless they are subscribed to ESPN-Bulgaria...that's the bigger issue with recruits...if we won more games and put on good shows it wouldn't matter who is on our schedule (see Clemson pre-2021).

I get all the dislike and hatred of FSU. But to me, the best UM-FSU games are when we beat FSU and ruin their season.

I’ll take Wide Right 1, 2, and 3 over last year‘s 52-10 win any day.

I’ve seen no one suggest he’s an imbecile. No one. He’s savvy as ****. And next to Shaq, he’s the most engaging, dynamic athlete I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.

You think Deion will be welcomed back to fsu after today? You realize this was probably the biggest recruiting embarrassment in the history of recruiting and fsu is a laughingstock?

I wouldn't say it's anymore embarrassing for FSU than it is for the rest of the P5 teams. A top recruit picked a school that isn't really even on the map.

If he can do something like that there, he could do it at FSU.

Let’s make an assumption here. Deion will be the next coach of FSU within the next two years. This is going to lead to a huge battle for years to come. We all know Mario is a great recruiter, but he will definitely be tested against Deion (not to mention Saban, etc).

I legitimately think this could set up Miami/FSU like it used to be. I am here for it. I think these two schools can be the epicenter of the college football world, yet again. I’m ready for Wide Right IV

Honestly have no idea what kind of coach Deion is at this point. Dude reels in better SAC talent to Jackson State (because of his name) than the competition and he just had a good year. Is he out-coaching anyone or out-talenting them—and how does that translate to the big time if he winds up at FSU? Dude will recruit well, but we know nothing about him as a coach.

Mario learned under Butch, Schiano and Saban and cut his teeth for years at FIU before landing in Oregon and making some noise there. Resume-wise, as a coach, Cristobal is head and shoulders past Sanders.

Im just gonna be real. JSU is paying dudes. This wasn’t a top tier FCS school or even HBCU to begin with and then poof they’re breaking recruiting records. This smells like 2014 Ole Miss all over the place.

How many people here wanted Butch after he beat us?

LOL, JSU has the 114th ranked class in the Country, even with Hunter, not even remotely like Ole Miss.

It has nothing to do with his skin color. He’s basically done nothing to help FSU since he left the school. And there are other things that don’t sit right with important people.

FSU ain’t gonna hire him because in addition to Hunter, Deion was calling other FSU Commits and trying to get as well. Burned bridges.
