Defensive Overhaul

I was looking at the staff last night thinking.. I wonder which one of these poor ******** we'll hate by this next year.

- OC/QB’s Shannon Dawson
- OL Alex Mirabal
- WR Kevin Beard
- TE Cody Woodiel
- RB Matt Merritt

- DC/LB’s Corey Hetherman
- DL Jason Taylor
- DT Damione Lewis
- DB Zac Etheridge
- DB Will Harris
merritt ... he ****ed up the rb rotation last year ... unless he takes a huge leap, split out to be 60 lyle, 38 fletch and chop up the rest with the youngins ...

It all comes down to if the coaches work together well. Each coach have their nice resumes, but it doesn't mean much if they are not on the same page.
Would've figured fans would've learned this after mario first staff. Each of them individually were monsters. We came together and united to form the powder puff girls... Let's just hope this group merges allot quicker especially considering the main difference is this group has talent at each and every position and that one lacked at most spots

You worried about any position? Got my eye on LB. Talent is there but there were way too many alignment issues last year.

I've also got my eye on kicker tbh. We've had 5 years of consistency.
But 6 years ago, we trotted out Bubba Baxa, Camden Price and Turner Davidson, who went 12/20.

Kicker can a make or break a season.

I wouldn't be surprised if we lose least 1 this spring, but we have numbers at the moment, especially when you consider you don't have 3 on the field that often nowadays

Bissainthe
Alderman
Aguirre
Pruitt
Hayes
Washington
Wiley
C.Smith
Marcelin- possible readshirt
wes Popo Pruitt Hayes Wiley and Washington is more then enough to work with. it will take a lot to re-wire them but that's what we have to do- except for Wiley

Far as a position itself kicker might be what worries me the most. Lber I'm glad youth is taking over. I'm a lil worried about that position but not because of players. Just wish we would've signed a lber coach and let dc do what he's here for. Everytime we've tried this play has suffered. Hoping this dude is detail oriented enough to pull it off.

I disagree that he is ok. He needs to be replaced or at a minimum he needs to be in a dogfight for playing time.
I agree that he should be in a dogfight. I get man. The guy is certainly no Jesse Armstead but you make it sound like Wes is Zach McCloud level terrible. I'll settle for Darrell McClover.

There’s a weak link in this staff and most everyone won’t admit it and that’s JT he’s gotten less out of his DE group.

If he wasn’t a HOF player he’d also be gone but he’s still here till the smoke and mirrors clear up .

He should have been released with DC .

He’s recruited better than any position coach on staff besides maybe mirabal? And I still don’t believe the dline was as bad as people make it out to be

People just bought into the top10 in the country hype but it was the best unit on the defense and when guidry, the secondary and LBs(kiko) weren’t getting cooked they played very well

People on here just had this stupid cope narrative that a dline could just cover up all of your issues on defense when that has never been true, football is a team game

While I do believe the above to be true, I also think that JT needs to show that he is more than just a recruiter. He needs to show that he can teach and develop. With players like Blount, McConathy, Lightfoot, Pickett and Rudolph going into their 2nd years, he has a huge opportunity.

Yep so many issues that cannot be fixed in a couple months of offseason.
If we didn’t have Cam this season would have the flip side of our record.
No way could we’ve had put up 50 points a game mainly in the 4th quarter.

We really were not that good at all without Cam .

I agree with this and have been calling for hiring a LB coach to lessen the burden on Hetherman. Especially now with the new rule regarding on field coaches.
