Kiko has regressed, not sure wtf is going on with him.

Popo has a long way to go as well, I don't remember which play but he ****ed up huge on one TD. Just gotta keep improving through out the year and grow into a stud next year.

We have to play more zone. Blowing too many assignments in m2m, getting gashed in screen game in m2m, and I don't trust any of our corners down the field against good WRs in m2m. Guidry not a dummy, so I assume we blow more assignements in zone than m2m in practice, but coming out of the bye week hopefully we see more zone against L'Ville or expect more of the same feast or famine on defense. With Bain back we should be able to rush 4 and play coverage going forward.

I think he said if you can make adjustments to stop their new looks, that's when they'll go back to what you've seen on film.

This, and Kiko hasn't played great last few games too. Tough to be good at defense when you've got problems up the middle on all 3 levels. Really is that simple.

I think on the first TD Hill was supposed to be in a cover 3, and he never dropped into his zone. I know we may not have 5 stars in our secondary, but this is ridiculous, they should be better than this.

It’s a simple as this, zone coverage in the secondary and just let the front four get home, which is what they’re good at. Save the blitzing for certain situations, but other than that, the front four can get home most of the time and we can just play zone on the back end . That’ll fix a lot of what’s going on.
 
Back end and young LB’s need reps. Another poster brought up the Washington brothers, Would be nice to see them get reps. Along with 15 & 20. Popo more reps also.

Honestly I think he’s the same guy he was when he got here

He’s got one gear but it’s more glaring now because the team is better and he’s a senior so the spotlight is on him more

our overall D has been fine by the numbers. the issue is were giving up too many big plays in ACC play. we stopped VT and Cal when in the second half of both games, but holy crap we are giving up too many big plays too often in both games

Guidry cant tackle for them. our missed tackles are a problem. Powell is overcompensating for Richard, Hill is overcompensating for Harris. Kiko is limited. it's more than just play calls.

Yeah problem with zone is it requires smarter, more disciplined players. I think Mario mentioned one of the big plays was because we were in zone and a player took the eye candy and left his zone, and there was no one there to make a tackle. I guess Guidry is playing man because it requires less thinking but the trade off is we don’t have speed in the secondary. Instead of blown coverage, the DBs will just get burned. The hope is that the DL can get to the QB before the WRs can get too far downfield.

Maybe what can work is man but a little more conservative re: leverage, contain, blitzes, freelancing
