Do you know why he started the bowl game?

Look, you're mixing metaphors. Yes, the coaches SAID that TVD was an elite QB. That is true, they made an effort to pump up his confidence and motivation.

The coaches never said the same of Lou. Never. Did they have to start him because other players were unavailable or not doing what they should be doing? Yes.
McCoy sitting behind Lou either says a lot about McCoy or a lot about the staff.

No. No it doesn't.

It says "who started for the first play". Since, you know, they split the snap counts nearly 50-50 for the bowl game.

Does it LOOK like the coaches "said" Luis Cristobal is a starting OG?

Being labeled the starter is a message. A Mo Green special to the guy you're starting over. Especially when it's a useless slappy like Lou

But he wasn't "labeled" the starter. He split time with McCoy, Lou just happened to be the guy on the field for the first play. And that was the product of some other forms of reward/no-reward, involving practice effort, academic performance, etc.

It's not a big deal. You are making it a big deal.

OK I'm sorry. From now on he's a FIRSTER not a STARTER add it to the CIS dictionary with pause and prakis

Welcome to the U!

Now let's get this thread back on Tyler Baron, please. A starter-quality edge rusher transfers to UM and the announcement thread barely makes it 12 hours before it's derailed into ::checks the last couple of pages:: Lou Cristobal starting at OG in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl talk... really?

I tried to end it quickly, but someone can't read.

I have to ask, and I am sorry if this was already discussed. What happened with UL?

I have heard rumors of an undisclosed injury, I have heard something about a failed physical, I have heard he has a history of injuries...

Is this all just a bunch of bull****?

I only know what I read here but it was reported he went there on an unofficial visit so they never did a physical, once enrolled they realized he was nursing a shoulder injury and was out for Spring and should be back in time for fall but they were apparently salty about it. Then sprinkle in the rumors of UL not paying NIL I could see him getting a short payment if they felt he was not completely honest about his shoulder.

Apparently we had concerns over his shoulder and got him evaluated and it checked out. As far as history of injuries his VOLS profile says he played all 10 games as a TF, no starts but over 250 snaps so roughly 25 a game is **** good for a TF in the SEC, he was the 4th ranked DE coming out of HS. as a Soph he played in all 13 games with 5 starts (odd 4 of his starts were the first 4 games then the bowl) as a junior appeared in all 13 games with 3 starts, as a senior he played in 12 games. Bio does not mention injuries so I dont think he has been injury plagued. Maybe always kinda nicked up but does not look like anything serious.

You can say the same exact thing about James Pearce.

On Pearce, 6 of his 9.5 came against teams ranked 109, 114, 121, and 132 out of 133 teams in sack % and another one came against Austin Peay. Another .5 came against Vandy. And he’s considered the very top of the draft board in 2025
Yeah for sure. I like giving context and balance. He’s a good player.

They are having problems with their NIL program. He had an issue with his labrum, which gave them even more pause to pay.

But we checked it out, are very comfortable with it and are moving forward with eyes wide open. The coaches expect him to be an impact player.

I love what we’ve done to help Bain

To me he was asked to do way too much last year and it seemed like he wore down at the end of the year. That coupled with him being the only threat we had

That kid with some help and some rest and a year of getting stronger and better? Lawd.
