This is best source I can find on all the Coordinator moves from last year. I plan to take a closer look at it later.
Feel like we shouldn't include teams that have new head coaches and new coordinators, and make a note whether a new coordinator is being brought in to replace a coordinator who took a better college job or moved on to the NFL (Heatherman at Minny is one that stands out: replaced Rossi who went to MSU with Jonathan Smith - I'd classify that as a "step up" intra-conference - he was the only hire on the defensive side of the ball)
This is just a sample size of 1 year so not entirely useful, but better than anecdotal data and narrative.

That’s arguably a step down. The system that made him successful is in place, with a young and what looks to be superstar HC. Not to mention ND has a cake walk to the playoff every year. Why would he leave for anything other than another shot at being a HC?

The only reason he would take that gig would be to pay back Miami! I get it. South Bend is a ****hole. But this would be a lateral move at best professionally.
