DC Candidates

I agree that Ryan Walters has to be at the top of the Canes list. His defenses at Illinois were pretty good and he identified, recruited and developed 0-3 star talent (including DBs) from South Florida into NFL players. RW checks all the boxes for experience, recruiting, development and designing good defenses to play against high level competition

Who are some of the NFL guys that MC may have connections to? It’s time to start playing big boy ball and stop with these up and comers from lower level schools.

The 4 stages of a Canes coaching search:

Stage 1: Massive names that would never take the job

Stage 2: Canes legend who has never really coached before but people still think would be a great coach (Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Warren Sapp, etc)

Stage 3: Hot name from a smaller school. You’ve never heard of him but now you NEED him

Stage 4: You get a different guy you’ve never heard of and you convince yourself he’s great

Super Mario has a short list of candidates , but let the new DC bring his staff
we are really going need a "bad A" Defense next year. talent is there and with some CB's , LB's who can run and a new scheme we can be razor sharp for Domers and Gators

Whoever it is, the person has to be someone not currently on the staff right? If not Mario should have let the person on staff coach defense to see what he could do as DC during bowl game.

1. Jim Leonhard (Former Wisconsin Defensive Coordinator) defensive mastermind, known for consistently producing top-tier defenses at Wisconsin. Does he want to come back?

2. Will Muschamp (Co-Defensive Coordinator, Georgia) proven and understands SEC-level competition. Does he want to jump?

3. Doug Belk (Defensive Coordinator, Houston) ability to maximize talent at Houston, leading one of the best Group of Five defenses. His youth and energy may fit well with Miami’s recruiting efforts and bring a fresh perspective.

4. Zach Arnett (Head Coach, Mississippi State) 3-3-5 defensive scheme and SEC experience would be valuable. His aggressive style could inject new life into Miami’s defense.

5. Brad White (Defensive Coordinator, Kentucky) ability to develop players and construct disciplined, stingy defenses at Kentucky shows he can deliver results.

6. Tony Gibson (Defensive Coordinator, NC State)
experience in the ACC and success with NC State’s 3-3-5 scheme make him a great candidate. His familiarity with the conference would be an asset to Miami.

Miami’s defense needs:
1. A coordinator who can stop big plays and solidify fundamentals.
2. Someone who can recruit at a high level, particularly in South Florida.
3. A coach who can adapt to the modern fast-paced offenses of college football.

Glenn Schumann: guy Mario initially wanted when he got here. May want to be free of Muschamp?

Corey Raymond: as co-DC? Another guy Mario wanted.

In the real world, what job could you be average to below average and be a millionaire and then get fired for being incompetent and then be paid multi-million dollars more in a buyout?
Literally every job making you a millionaire has a buyout contract. Ask Bob Iger and Chaypek.

That’s a lot of negatives overall to fall on the head coach.

So Manny was to get us to 10 wins as an expectation, but Mario gets twice as much money and exponentially more resources to hover around the same?
Maybe that was YOUR expectation of Manny Diaz.

You do see the difference in Manny Diaz tenure and Mario tenure? Or does blind hatred for Mario not let you be objective.

Both show improvement from year 1 to year 2. One shown improvement year 2 to year 3, the other didn't.

Year 3, one lost 3 games by a total of 10pts, and have a #1 Offense. The Other lost 2 of 5 five games by 20, and had the 85# rank defense which was the side of the ball he coached!

Get straight to the mustard, I am not here to change your mind. I am not just going to arbitrarily **** on Mario if it's not justified. With that being say, if he wins less then 9-10 games next year. I will be right there with you the pitchforks, razors and lemon juice.

I don't like how he did against UVA at Illinois

I don't think we've run through the big time Pop Warner candidates, yet.

Gotta be a nugget in there somewhere . . .
