Im gonna leave it at people really dont understand richt... hes got this image people think of when it comes to him that is SO FAR OFF... the man is a savage! I had respect for the man before because we have mutual acquaintances. But now that ive got to know him i love this man. There is several coaches who could be better for us but we say that because we dont comprehend the network behind these coaches. Coaches are made by their staffs and their networks. The elite coaches arent a possibility for us not only financially but because our network wontbdo the same for saban that bamas will or urbans will or tom hermans etc. Thats why i respect the **** out of the pattersons and d'antonis because they do it right year after year. We had things lined up to close to an omg level last year. What u got to realize though is that the powerhouse programs with deep pockets they have a different level they take it too once they see what position they are really in. We can have whatever kid loving us,giving us a silent etc mid season. But **** changes real quick when these squads start throwing out 6 digits,houses,high paying jobs,cars for everyone etc. We cant match that. For the people who dont comprehend that im sorry but youre not a realist and you dont understand this is a HUGE business. These kids are highly paid employees and just like in all other big business its a war for the sought after youngins. Our staff is beasts. Give them their just due.

Unfortunately, some on here don't understand the game. They will blame the coaches and kids when they go elsewhere but fail to realize the behind the scenes aspects of recruiting. I don't blame the kids for taking whatever they can because they are getting pimped out by the NCAA. Miami will only land 5 star kids that really want to be here because the other kids are taking the bags.

As MUCH as I think Butch could've Slayed it again....it IS a different World in recruiting than in the early to mid 90s.....There was No Scout.com...Rivals.com...etc...combined with Social media....All there was...USA Today's Recruiting rankings....and in Ref to Butch not having patience for the Prima Donna 4 & 5* kids....He's 100% correct again....Butch had absolutely NO time for the "I want to Start"...."Want things handed to me on Silver Platter" type Kids.....NONE....

Plain idiotic. Jaden Davis is an elite corner, basically a bigger version of Asante Samuel. We didn’t need Asante last year because we had young and bandy to take care of pesky tiny slot receivers. But young is done. If bandy gets hurt, who comes in to guard the Jeff Thomas and Harley types?

Appreciate the insight. I think most on here understand that we are recruiting with a severe disadvantage. I absolutely love coach Richt. But all the other position coaches seem to be capable of adapting accordingly. rumph wasn't prepared for this level of recruiting and got burned for it. Never he's decided to switch his recruiting style to out of state kids but he has no relationship with them and there for they have no loyalty to him. I understand Rumph is your friend but if you know you can't compete with the big boys money you need to be able to identify the kids who aren't interested in playing games and stop wasting time on the kids who are.

Two other things: please help us put a CIS bag together.
Mario Cristobal is killing it on the trail. He has a few big seasons at Oregon and that's the real coach in waiting.

Butch was a F-ing SAVAGE on the trail....From 84-88 when JJ really wanted a kid.....he sent Butch....What he did in recruiting from 95-2000...against Ridiculously tough odds....will in my opinion never be duplicated considering the circumstances....Convincing Kids to come to a school that JUST got hit with 31 Schollies...(11 right away) with a Bowl ban and no TV for a yr....A National Publication calling for UM to Drop FB....and the Murder of an up and coming LBer, is NOTHING short of Miraculous.....

Like many I wanted Butch and didn’t appreciate CMR when first hired. However, he is a Savage and is the right guy for the job. I do disagree that Butch couldn’t adapt and couldn’t deal with today’s players. I think they are more similar than people realize, just their approach and delivery is different. Both have zero tolerance for “divas”. CMR ain’t putting up with no one who demands to start and doesn’t earn it, just ask Dionte Mullins.

My favorite thing about Storm18 is they are very reminiscent of a Butch type class, with their attitude, hunger and work ethic. They even have 2 hidden gems in Rousseau and Miller. It’s a reflection of who CMR is. Love the dude and glad we have him.

Recruiting wise, the best a staff can do under these circumstances is be relentless in pursuing the kids at or near the top of the board, sell them on their vision for them at the U, constantly work to strengthen and evolve the brand, strengthen community ties in South Florida, and constantly (and independently) evaluate the incoming talent to make certain they are targeting the best players available to them. Overall, I think our staff gets it.
