Real talk tho that’s 5 blue-chip DB commits, correct?

And Merritt who is a Bama kid that Auburn still wants?

And we ain’t done??

Not familiar with other classes nationally but if there’s a better DB one, let me know.
Ohio State’s…3 of the top 6 DB’s nationally.

But we’re top 3.

Btw, this takes us to #9 overall for class rank, jumping Oregon (although we have 22 commits and they have 15, so probably short-lived as far as a H2H with Oregon goes). It also takes us from 16th in average rating per recruit, to 14th.

Nonetheless, puts us in a good spot before the season kicks off. Should be a top 6 class for sure provided we win 10+.

Big get. A few months ago it felt like Bryce was leaving town from The Gators, LSU and recently FSU. LOL I gotta say I love that FSU has fallen on their face again. Great day for the Canes nation to land both Bryce and Newton. Welcome to the U!!

The notion that this guy is an average athlete is one of the weirdest narratives I've seen.

Fitzgerald is one of the best athletes in the state. Watch his football and basketball clips, and look at his production in both sports. The track times are not good, but he ran a 4.48 on the lasers at 16. Everyone who has seen him on the circuit-- recruiting analysts, coaches, other players--considers him a big-time athlete and mover.

The issue is physicality. If he can't tackle at the next level, there is real tweener risk. But he is young and has a good frame (6'1, 175). Get him on campus and figure it out.

I hate to be that guy, but Fitzgerald looks like a wide receiver to me at the college level. He has great skills attacking the football in the air. But on defense he was basically just playing centerfield and beating the receivers to the football.
But that won’t work as well against good college QB’s.

In addition, I’d rather throw to him 8-10 times per game and get the football in his hands, than hope he makes 1 interception.

Anyway, he looks like he will be a very good wide receiver.

The Canes landed one of the best athletes in Florida with the commitment of DB Bryce Fitzgerald. The 6'1, 175-pounder picked off 10 passes last year for a state champion Columbus team, while also scoring multiple TDs as a receiver, returner, and defender.

Fitzgerald is considered an elite athlete locally and ran one of the faster combine times in the South with a 4.48 forty. He chose Miami over FSU and LSU and is considered the #120 overall player in the country.

In addition to his football exploits, Fitzgerald is also a skilled basketball player. He put up 11.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.5 steals as a sophomore on Belen Jesuit's state title team, and will return to the hardwood as a senior on a loaded Columbus squad featuring the top-rated Boozer twins.

Fitzgerald is the 22nd commitment in Miami's class, joining QB Luke Nickel, RB Girard Pringle, TE Brock Schott, TE Luka Gilbert, OT Jaden Wilkerson, OT Demetrius Campbell, OG Max Buchanan, OG TK Muex, OC SJ Alofaituli, DE Herbert Scroggins, DT Donta Simpson, DT Mykah Newton, LB Gavin Nix, LB Ezekiel Marcelin, LB Elijah Melendez, CB Chris Ewald, S Hylton "Drake" Stubbs, CB Jaboree Antoine, DB Amari Wallace, and DB Tim Merritt

Love to see DB recruits with very good ball skills.
