DAY 7 PRACTICE THREAD

He won't STAY our starter if he does that frequently.
I got a feeling your right... Too many turnovers! Turnover ratios decide football games mkre often than not...

Context. Lewis dropped it according to ITU and Armbrister picked it off after it came off Lewis' hands.

He has been throwing interception all week long.

Overstatement. Kaaya has been mentioned a couples times as throwing picks as well. Rosier probably most frequent.

Heaps is a turnover machine and stares down WR's and we're f*cked if he's our starter.

I am assuming the music is blasting to simulate crowd noise. This will help with communication in noisy environments.

Could be. But couldn't they just simulate crowd noise by blaring a recording of........crowd noise

What does it matter?

Wouldn't a recording of crowd noise be more realistic than music when trying to simulate crowd noise?

Do they not play music during the games, also?

Not while the play is taking place....

Thurston Armbrister jumps a slant on Malcolm Lewis and picks off Jake Heaps. Big party on the defensive sideline.

Heaps is a turnover machine but Golden is going to start him, smh

"Interception waiting to happen"

Jacory Harris 2.0

Fixed it for you

is there really a difference? Lol

Yes, Jacory had snickers before the game Steamo had his postgame

Seeing a little pattern at camp over the past couple of days: lots of throws to Duke out of the backfield. More than usual, it seems.

Hmm, get your best player the ball in space, interesting concept

He had four receptions all last season right? Coley better start taking advantage of Duke.

Or maybe we finally have QBs on roster that make proper reads and then check down if the primary receiver(s) are not open.

Hunter Wells working at LG in Feliciano's absence. Freshman Trevor Darling at RT for younger McDermott.

The OL is an area of major concern at this point

Agreed. I think we are weak on the OLine in terms of strength. after watching a couple of clips we are hurting bad at the position. Flowers is the only one i think can handle his own.

Been saying this since spring. Scares the sh*t outta me
I don't know why people overlook Feliciano. Not as talented as Flowers, sure, but he had a good year last year and has a lot of starts under his belt. He could have a big year barring injury.

“Jake is more mature, it comes naturally, and Brad has more difficulty reading coverages”-DJ on diff b/w Heaps & Kaaya @TheStateOfTheU

Heaps will start on opening day.

It's a win/win situation, actually. IF Kaaya starts, it means he's darn good. If Heaps starts, it means he's at least good enough to hold off a good young QB and EARNED the starting job. I think Kaaya is the future, but I don't mind one bit if he doesn't start day 1.

One thing that keeps jumping into my head is this. What if Ken Dorsey had won the starting job as a true freshman? Odds are we don't lose at Washington in 2000 if he had a season of starts in 1999. If Kaaya is ready, I'm all for him starting right now. It could pay off huge next year.

You think had he not started all year in 1999 he wouldn't have been better prepared for 2000?
dorsey starting all season had nothing to do with whether we won or lost at UW.

The whole team was shook that day. Maybe Dorsey wasn't ready to start against Ohio State in 1999 in a top 15 matchup? Or play at FSU. Home against Penn State. Dorsey got his time against Syracuse, Temple and Rutgers.

no, he started a few games at end of his freshman year, had all spring and summer to prepare. he was as prepared as he was going to be.

I like Feliciano and Flowers but they're the only sure things. I think we can put 5 effective lineman together but the depth is lacking.

If Dorsey started all year in 1999, he may not have made it to 2000. If you are looking at this from the viewpoint of best preparing Kaaya for next year, then you would want Heaps to start and ease Kaaya into it over the season. If you are looking at this from the viewpoint of trying to win as many games as possible this year, then you would want Heaps to start because of his experience.

For those asking, RB Joe Yearby was helped off the field an hour into practice. Took ice pack on left ankle and didn't return.

I'm good with Heaps starting. I was just thinking, sure, we'd take some lumps this year with a true freshman QB, but we might end up better off down the road the more playing time he gets this year.

It really doesn't matter to me either way. Both guys are working hard, and both have talent. That beats what we had a few months ago.
