You're saying a motivational tool, overused, doesn't work to motivate anymore?
Huh.
I bet it does still work. If I had a black jersey and lost it I would be ****ed and bust my *** to get it back. As much about pride as it is about motivation, IMO.
Funny how dudes whose only access to the program is from behind a cpu feel informed enough to opine on what works with the players and what doesn't.
It's pretty obvious isn't it? Every school does something like this. It's just a way rewarding effort and solid play. If you never don't throw the backups a bone then the starters get complacent because there is nobody to push them. This kind of stuff is so ridiculously common throughout football that it's crazy to knock a coach for doing this.
U guys I understand its motivational and all, but these guys that most likely will only see special teams are starting in practice reps. They are taking away first team reps from guys like Grace and Owens, which is unacceptable. I mean would u guys be happy with Gray Crow getting first team reps at QB this late into the offseason? It's the same thing, just a little more extreme.
Also the reason they said Harris has been doing well is because he "doesn't make mistakes". That's so the attitude of this defense and it's annoying to me. It's not because he's "making plays", it's because he "doesn't make mistakes". Maybe that's just me though. Also idk who Bleakverb is
